Organizational Behavior is the study and application of knowledge about how people, individuals, and groups act in organizations (Clark, 1998). Members of the Corcoran Police Department as well as law enforcement in general subscribe to the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. Originally written in 1957 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Code of Ethics has only seen one revision, which occurred in 1989 and was adopted in 1991 as the official code of law enforcement. As a law enforcement officer, society expects your professional life as well as your personal life to remain without question. Although law enforcement officers are still human beings, the organization of law enforcement as well as society places you on a pedestal expecting your conduct to be of a higher standard. A law enforcement officer is expected to lead a life while on duty to protect and preserve life and property, to protect those that cannot protect themselves while protecting the constitutional rights of all whether a criminal or a victim. While off duty, you are charged in keeping your personal life personal and without blemish, in a manner, which will not discredit yourself or your agency. Personal feelings, beliefs, prejudices, or friendships should ever influence the decision to enforce the law equally.…

Ask a manager of 35, 25 or even 15 years ago what their Organization 's Behavioral patterns were or how their employees felt about certain issues and you would probably be met with blank stares. Organizational Behavior (OB) was not a part of the business world in those days. The idea that a manager need only deal with the technical skills of it 's employees while disregarding their own listening skills, communication skills and interaction skills was the common mode of thought. A recent study on employee burnout by Northwestern National Life Insurance shows that at least one out of every four employees views their job as the biggest stressor in their lives (Work, stress and health conference, 1999). Clearly it is time to reevaluate our thinking on the business concepts of the past and focus our attention on our organization with a more humanistic approach. What worked in the past is not necessarily going to work today. As the world changes so too does our environment change. We need to change with it or be left behind. Organizational Behavior is one of those vehicles being used for change. The past 10-15 years has shown an increase in Organizational Behavior studies. OB has become an important tool for businesses striving to meet the needs of its employees while understanding the impact of the individual on an organization 's behavior.…

I want to define “what is Organizational Behavior?” and after that we can understand why it’s importance. Organizational behavior studies the influence that individuals, groups and organizational structure have on behavior within organizations. (Robins & Judge, 10th,p.2). From this definition, we can say if we learn Organizational behavior, it will help us understand and predict human behavior in an organization. There are many reasons make Organizational Behavior become important in an organization. First of all, we have to know most people are born and educated in organizations, acquire most of the material possessions from organizations, and die as members of organizations. And in our life, we can be consumers, member or employee in an organization. We can not say “I don’t belong to any organization so I don’t care about that”. Second, the value of organizational behavior is that it isolates important aspects of the manager’s job and offers specific perspectives on the human side of management. Finally, if we study about organizational behavior, we can clarify the factors that affect how managers manage.…

Over 4,600 articles have examined the topic of organizational culture since 1980. (Chad A. Hratnell, Amy Yi Qu, and Angelo Kinicki, 2011(667). The impetus behind much of this research is the belief that organizational culture is an important social characteristic that influences organizational, group, and individual behavior. Organizational culture is used to guide employees toward desirable behaviors as well as to develop high performers (Sherwood 1988; O’Reilly 1989(498)). Moreover all of new groups created will be influenced by organizational culture. Last, organizational culture may help the organization adapt to the changing market conditions (Daft 2007(498)). The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of organizational culture on three aspects of organizational behaviors of individuals, groups and organization.…
