Describe any experience or activities you have been involved in that relate to the programs you ranked. During my senior year at the boarding school I attended, I was selected to become a Peer Assistant to the incoming junior class. As a Peer Assistant, I acted as a mentor and a role model to the junior high school students I was assigned. I taught them important study habits, checked on their emotional stability, and acted as a leader to them in guiding them through how to best benefit our high school. I became a strong leader and was encouraged to actively engage in the local community as well.
During my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I was the Senior Patrol Leader of my local Boy Scout troop. As the highest youth leader, I guided the younger Scouts in their participation with the troop. I planned weekly meetings and monthly outings, resolved disputes amongst scouts, and acted as a role-model scout. Everyone is loyal to a multitude of different entities and the needs and wants of those entities commonly conflict with one another. For example, if I were to witness my friend steal something, my friend would expect that I am loyal to him and to not inform anyone of his crime while the law expects that I am loyal to it and that I would inform the authorities of such a crime. These two loyalties conflict with one another and it would cause me to question my morals and cause much inner turmoil. This conflict can be seen in many instances in today’s society. For example, President Trump looks for advisors who are loyal to him and not to the law, athletes feed on loyalty to themselves and not to other athletes, and unlawful organizations need loyalty to that organization and not loyalty to any other entity, including oneself. This conflicting loyalties may be hard to spot, but they may not be as big of a challenge if society were to prioritize loyalty to the truth, honesty, and loyalty to good morals, integrity, above all. The virtues of honesty and integrity could provide individuals with a clear mind to sort between different loyalties, but until these actions are recognized and encouraged, the conflict will still remain
