drugs and many more crimes. There are various reasons why would people join gangs.
Some people join gangs for protection, they feel accepted and cool. People also may join gangs to have a sense of family. For example, people who may not have a good life at home with their family will find love within the gang. Most of these gangsters are people who live with only one parent who isn’t home all the time due to work or other reasons. Some of these people feel neglected at home, so they want to belong somewhere. Some gangs are based on ethnic groups. Most people who live in poverty join gangs, due to their financial status, by joining gangs they can make steady illegal money. Majority of gang members drop out of high school. It also depends on their neighborhood, for example, resources, some people join gangs because there bored and have nothing to do. In conclusion, all gangs are bad for the
society. I believe in order to prevent people from joining gangs and from causing problems in the community, the community has to work on their resources. For example, the prevention of joining gangs should start from home. The community must have classes for parents on how to educate their kids about how gangs ruin lives, how being a member of a gang can lead you to prison or death. The parents can also work with the school to help the youth. The community should have programs where the youth can go and spend their time. For example, gaming arcades, sports events, dancing, skill learning and many more activities to prevent youth from spending times on the streets. The people who may have potential to end up in a gang, the community can arrange certain meetings with participating gang members who are regretting joining gangs. The inmates can tell them how joining gangs can ruin their lives and how it isn’t worth it. The community can help people and have resources available throughout the community, which can prevent people from joining gangs. Some people don’t want to use the community budget on helping people who may potentially become gang members. They want the budget to go to other things. Some people argue that despite the resources a community may have to offer, there still will be gangs. The people against spending community budget on resources for people who can potentially be gang members do not realize the facts, if people keep joining gangs, it can be very problematic for the whole community. The problems the gangs will bring to the community, for example, rape, robbery, murder, drugs and much more, will consume most of the budget for police investigations and jails. However, if the community comes together and spends budget on prevents people from joining gangs can be very peaceful and rewarding for the community.
