Steroids is a very popular drug that is used to make people get an advantage in sports or just to try and help them get the girls. But, it is bad for you and has many bad side affects that will make you as weak as you will get strong. The use of steroids continues to make news and sports headlines as athletes and bodybuilders use them illegally to gain an advantage on the playing field. Anabolic steroids refer to hormones that are either taken orally or by injection that influence the body's hormonal system to produce extra testosterone. The goal of taking anabolic steroids is to increase muscle mass and to look stronger. Anabolic refers to this muscle-building capability. Especially in baseball there are many people that use the advantage to either hit more homeruns or being able to throw the ball faster. Some players that used steroids are Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Brian Bosworth, Rafael Palmeiro, Mark McGwire, Lance Armstrong, and many other professional sport athletes all across the world. Also many professional wrestlers do steroids. I want to focus on one baseball player that used steroids and also ratted everybody else out for using the steroids , and that is Jose Canseco. While he was using the steroids he was in the best seasons of his career because of the steroids. In 1988 he hit 42 homers and stole 40 bases which has only been done a handful of times. Being 6 foot 4 inches 250 lbs it is easy to see the 40 homers but not the 40 stolen bases. People this size just don’t move that fast. The steroids that he was on raised questions when he was denying his usage. He got arrested many times and got in a lot of fights during his career and when he was on the steroids. They call this “Roid Rage” because he would get very aggressive when he was on the steroids and s are many other people. Canseco said in an interview with 60 minutes that he injected many people including Mark McGwire, and he also helped out Ivan Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, and Juan Gonzalez.
