I agree with Emerson with the fact that we won't grow as individuals unless we try to exceed what we already have done or mastered. It is good that we should always try to be our best selves in life so that we can truly give back to our society. There wouldn't be any success in life if we all did the same thing and not pushed ourselves. We would all be just satisfying our physical needs and nothing beyond that. On the other hand, success exists because there are people out there who constantly push themselves to strive for greatness and be the best. Success wouldn't be called success if everyone achieved it. It is only success if you were the only one who strive for it accomplish it. Rockefeller wasn't born in the wealthiest family out there in fact, he was born into a really poor family with not the best parents. Even though his living situation was bad as a child, as a result, he became a multi billionaire. The reason why he was so successful even though he struggled through his early life was because Rockefeller tried super hard in life and strived for greatness. If he had only settled with what he needed in life to live or to survive, he wouldn't be the person we know him to be now. He had to go through a lot to be the person we know him to be. He had to out smart everyone in the oil business, talk to his competitors so he could monopolize, and many more he had to do to be the person we know him to be as. Rockefeller would not be the person he is without the discipline and lessons he learned in his early life and that really motivated him to be the best he could be. Another example is the reason we go to school. Us as students are required to go to school until 16. After 16 we can drop out if we wanted to.
