Child beauty pageants lead to children’ serious mental and health issues According to a recent study conducted by (AACA) American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, exploitation in child beauty pageants can ruin a girl’s self-esteem forever and can be dangerous for their physiological turmoil. Despite children’s parents’ desire to focus their children’s attention on outward appearance, beauty and fashion, child beauty pageants are risk factors for severe psychological frustrations. The children beauty pageants should be banned for children less than 16 years old because this competition is more “affection than perfection” for them, they are still “babies but not barbies”, and they need to be protected and not to be exploited. There is another side of the increasing participation in children beauty pageants that supports by the dominant teenage subculture devoting to the beauty. We do not banned smoking that causes million deaths in a year, we do not ban drinking alcohol that brings million people to the hospitals, we do not ban any sport activities that causes several serious injures to the sportsmen. In other words, some think that children beauty pageants should not be banned because they are not abusive or wrong and they do not include any illegal activities such as corruption, drugs. Participation in a children beauty pageant is a good way for youthful ladies to develop themselves and their career for the future, because it gives them a chance to stand up on the stage and to show the best they got.
