One reason that I think that poaching should end because first off it is inhumane. These animals aren't dying because they are harming humankind but they are dying because people need them for unneeded stuff such as jewelry, utensils, trinkets and religious figurines. …show more content…
Recently, the body of what authorities suspect was a poacher was found eaten up by lions in South Africa last Friday. The man's body was discovered inside Ingwelala Private Nature Reserve, (which contains large numbers of the most poached animals- lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and buffalo) a private game reserve near Kruger National Park, in northeastern South Africa. Because the man was intruding on the reserve and found with weapons, authorities believe he was there for poaching (National Geographic). Another reason why poaching should end is because the extinction on these animals would soon end the continuation of humanity. If the last elephant were to die there would be no natural repopulation- which leads to changes to the system, which would affect the animals and people that rely on this wilderness area. Poaching can affect the environment by depleting certain species of animals. It causes animals that are endangered to become extinct, thus creating a disruption in the food chain. Eventually, it will cause as a result new adaptations of animals, and/or species beyond human control (Poaching Crisis). Like for example if there lions that eat gazelles and they eat grass, and we killed off all of the lions then there wouldn't be as many predators to eat the gazelle and they will overpopulate. Then since there are more gazelles there will need to be more food to feed all of the gazelles, and then there won't be any grass left because the gazelles ate it all. But then all of the gazelles will die because there is no food to feed them so they are going to starve, so then we are left with nothing. This is exactly like that except there are humans involved and other animals that will die off because the food chain is
