Why I think drunk drivers should be imprisoned. Some people say that drunk drivers should be imprisoned, others might think they shouldn’t. Some may say that everyone deserves a second chance. I believe that one should get a second chance depending on the situation. For something like drunk driving, I think they should get imprisoned. There are no excuses for drunk drivers because they break the rules and need to face the consequences no matter what they may be.
I think people should be responsible on the road and know what the limit is. If drivers can’t drive safely after being intoxicated, they should not be on the roads. They can put their life or someone else’s at risk just because they make a stupid decision and were being careless. Another reason why they should get imprisoned for their first offense is because if they don’t get caught, they will do it again until they or someone else gets hurt.
When someone is involved in a fatal car accident, that person that has been struck and killed does not get a second chance. The driver took their life away because they made a bad decision. I think that if one goes to prison for drunk driving, they can hopefully learn their lesson and not do it again. They will think twice before committing another action. People should be able to drink responsibly. If they are going to be drinking, they should be prepared to take a taxi or get a friend to drive them home.
