Why Teachers Should Have Guns
Of all the places in the world, you would think that a school is the safest place for a child to be. Sometimes this isn’t the case. In this speech, I will talk to you about how allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons will be a good idea. I will talk about the advantages of allowing teachers to carry a concealed weapon, how allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons is helping other countries, and why Gun-Free zones aren’t working. Let’s start with the advantages of allowing teachers to carry a concealed weapon.
There are three main advantages for allowing teachers to carry a concealed weapon. The three advantages are casualties will be reduced if you could take down the shooter quickly before the shooter kills any more people, teachers can be a tremendous deterrent to crime, and teachers can help stop another school shooting for example, Columbine or Virginia Tech. Let’s start with the first advantage. Casualties will be reduced if you could take down the shooter quickly before the shooter kills any more people. An armed teacher provides more immediate protection for the students than a police officer on the phone. It will take probably 5-10 minutes before the police will even get there. That is too much time for the shooter to do whatever he wants. So, if some teachers were carrying a gun, they could take down the shooter quickly before more damage is done. The second advantage is if teachers have guns and the public knows about it. It's a good thing because that would alert anyone coming into our schools armed with a gun. The last advantages is for protection and it would make the students and parents feel a lot more safe! Those are the three advantages I think why teachers should have concealed weapons

Arming teachers will also increase the operating cost of school districts that are already short on funding. We hear each year that schools are being forced to cut back programs for the students or the salary of teachers. By arming teachers we would add to that cost by requiring firearm training for those that are authorized to carry a firearm. Additionally will the school district use their own range as law enforcement does? Who will have the qualifications to operate this range? If teachers don’t have their own range there will still be added costs to use a range to train or qualify teachers and staff. Adding more costs to school budgets will only decrease the level of education that children receive by cutting educational things out to make room for arming teachers.…

. I personally think, this will deter any violent, gun related incidents from occurring in the future. Many ideas have been brought up, but the United States government seems to come to a standstill because no one can agree on what solution will work best. One idea that has been growing is arming teachers in schools to stop the threats right in their tracks. Upon first hearing this suggestion, most people think it sounds completely absurd. After considering both sides, however, the argument starts to make more sense and may not be as ludicrous as one may have thought. Even the president of the United States is calling for arming teachers.…

As commonly known, protection means a thing, person, or group that protects. In this case, protection is a firearm. Across the United States, conceal and carry is a law that allows a trained licensed owner to possess a weapon for protection in times of desperation. In this generation, school employees should be allowed to conceal and carry, because the potential dangers that schools face could be stopped in a moment’s notice to protect all from harm. An attempt to stop a mass attack is more helpful than ignoring the fact lives are at risk.…

Many people, including the state governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, believe that having firearms on school campuses will be nothing but a disturbance to both students and teachers. "I am not someone who believes that having multiple armed guards in every school is something that will enhance the learning environment,” he explained, "you don't want to make this an armed camp for kids."(Portnoy) This is the most valid argument for the opposition of armed guards in schools because kids/students are the main focus of the issue. One of the most important things regarding education is whether students are able to go to school in environment where they feel safe. In some situations many students may be uneasy in the presence for firearms where they will simply be a distraction. But there are times when extreme situations call for extreme measures, and the protection of students across the nation calls requires extreme measures. Superintendent MaryEllen Elia of the Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida said in a release to the lobby, “Let me tell you that I wish this wasn’t necessary. I wish we didn’t have to consider any of these strategies but the world has changed since I was in school. It changed again on December 14th.”(Byrd) Placing armed guards in schools is an action that people across the board are opposed to, but even Elia believes “We have a role and a responsibility.” that we should not “wait around hoping our students and staff are safe.” (Byrd) By reacting to the killings that have taken place across the nation Florida and many other states are taking steps in preventing more lives being…

One reason teachers being able to carry concealed weapons is a smart idea is because they are always going to be prepared for something as horrible as a school shooting. The teachers are our first line of defense if something like this were to happen, the police would inform them that someone is in the school and might start shooting,…

One of the hot debates in the United States, and recently growing within the topics most discussed is whether professors and students on college campuses should be allowed to bring concealed handguns to school. The people who watch the cameras can alert the campus police that the active shooter had a gun and give his or her last location on the school campus. Arming teachers with guns can lead to a decrease in active shootings at school sufficiently. To be able to effectively defend the students’ lives, the teacher needs to carry and wield a firearm: “if there were a school shooting and anyone had something to help slow down or stop the attack, I don’t see how it can be worse than letting a psychopath run loose with a gun and nothing to slow them down” (Youcancarry.com). According to Florida, Nine states—Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Kansas, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Mississippi, and Texas (starting in 2016)—allow for campus carry (Florida, 2015). Will this help resolve gun violence in schools or will it cause problems? Only time will tell if teachers will be able to reduce violence in school with a loaded gun in their desk. The fear is the possibility of a teacher’s gun, in the hands of an individual with mental issues. There is no real solution until parents and schools focus on the underlying cause of violence, and that is mental…

Also, to even protect all the students and faculty members in the school. If a teachers training includes gun safety and usage that would only increase the safety of the classroom. I do not think at all that this could bema negative thing. People who become educators are hired because their principal feels that they fit the qualifications necessary for teaching the students to the best of their ability. There are superintendents who gave gotten together and stated that “we’re seeing so many school employees saying they would attack.” Many and most teachers are all about having a gun on their person to protect themselves and their classroom as well as their students. For teachers at schools who are already armed in some school districts, there are regulations they have to follow concerning gun safety and dress code. The employees that are armed, which is a 32 member staff, went through mental-health screenings and trained for their concealed-weapons licenses together. The training will be ongoing until they leave that school. School safety consultants discuss how, “they could not base solely on the events of Dec. 14th, as they could not previously base gun training on what…
