Why Technology Is so Important to Students
Why is technology so important to students and how will it help them succeed in today’s society? Many people may ask this question because education in many ways is different today than it was fifty plus years ago. The answer to the question isn’t always so obvious either. However, the plain and simple truth is that today’s world has changed. No longer is memorization of facts and figures the goal. To keep up with our ever changing global community with all its complexities, students must learn to be complex problem solvers, to be able to work collaboratively, to develop their higher order thinking skills, to become experts in their chosen fields, to be able to discern good information from bad and to be competitive in the global workplace regardless of their chosen career. Our ever changing environment is highly complex with increasingly sophisticated technologies that improve our roads, vehicles, computers and other machinery. Students are now sentenced to years of schooling in order to learn how to run these devices and how to survive in this technologically complex world.
Information Technology education and courses in MIS are vital to the success of students in today’s society. No longer can you obtain a job or a degree without some form of technological know-how. Most, if not all, academic classes require the use of a computer. More so today than ever before in history, students have the ability to research any topic. They are not bound by classroom or library walls. Technology has opened doors to a seemingly infinite well of information that is just one mouse click away. The use of computers in teaching has also made learning more interesting. Computers enable better storage and presentation of information, thus making the process of teaching easier and more effective. Educational CDs are available everywhere. Lectures/lessons can be uploaded on websites, and this has made information more easily accessible and provides for better ways of knowledge

This is because technology has advanced since past generations. As the future generation, we have the role of creating bigger and better things. In order to provide accurate material to students, we, as an educational community, need to gain an understanding for where the world and society is today, as well as the projected developments of the future. We live in an era where a myriad of gadgets and gizmos are available for our everyday convenience. Even though college algebra is considered to be an obstacle for many students in terms of degree completion, as teachers we must teach useful strategies to motivate our students to find interest in mathematics. Recently, there is a psychological problem that we as teachers will face in the future, which is that some students believe they were born incompetent in math. However, “effort is key to their success and failure is a result of a lack of effort” (Cortes-Suarez, 2004). As teachers, we must motivate students that are in denial to improve their mathematical skills to prevent poor academic performance. For that reason, attempts to reshape the educational system could help break the cycle of self-blame that several students possess in order…

In another article titled “Hal and Me” by Nicholas Carr, he stresses the point that technology is pushing ‘the good life’ to the wayside. Although both authors have different opinions when it comes to technology, they both agree that changes are occurring due to technological influences on peoples’ brains. Technology plays an extremely large role in the lives of the people in this world, it is important that everyone understands that changes that come with the advances of technology.…

In 150 words, why Tech? Challenged accepted. Perhaps it’s the world renowned biomedical engineering major, “real word” application co-op program, entertaining Greek life, or the beautiful campus with a bustling city vibe; all great attributes that Georgia Tech maintains, but the most meaningful reason I’m applying to Tech is the ambitious, broad-mined, and intuitive students and staff found there. I’ve always searched for attributes among others that could grow in myself. Purposely surrounding myself with those who posses these traits in hopes that I could learn, replicate similar features in my choices and actions, and overall becoming a better person. Regardless of where I go, “Tech” schools will teach engineering, but what remains exclusive…
