In the video “The Great Pharaoh & His Lost Children’’ we learn of his dedication to his family at his funerary temple, the outstanding Ramesseum, where we can see how he depicted his children on various temple walls and reliefs. It was stated that Ramesses had over 100 children by his principal wives and consorts. Unlike many other Pharaohs, his family attested to with numerous monuments including Nefertari’s temple at Abu Simbel and her great tomb in the Valley of the Queens. Outside of the Abu Simbel the four seated statues of Ramesses are still there and in place. We were also able to see the tomb of several of sons of Ramesses the great, which is ancient Egypt’s greatest family mausoleum. Also, the tomb he built for his sons was one of the most unusual and largest tomb in Egypt. Ramesses had statues or images engraved of various sons and daughters on several of his building projects around Egypt. After Ramesses death, a ritual of mummification was started to preserve his body. His organs were then placed in special contains and his body was dried in special salts. Like any other Pharaoh, he was adorned with jewel amulets and wrapped in linen strips, this was symbolic during their time. I believe the video was over strong and straight to the point it helped refreshed my memory to what I’ve already knew and taught me something new. What I didn’t know was who Ramesses children were and how many he had. I believe it was stated in the video that he had a sister, which I also didn’t
