The civil war started when the confederates bombarded Union Soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina on April 12, 1861. The civil war ended in spring 1865. Robert E. Lee surrendered the last confederate army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1965. In addition the last battle was fought at Palmito Ranch, which is located in Texas on May 13, 1865. The civil was fought in several places from Pennsylvania to Texas, from Mexico to Florida coast, but the majority of the fighting where located in the states of Virginia and Tennessee. Abraham Lincoln quoted, “that the conflict would not only determine the future of the United States but very future of mankind. “I believe if the American Civil War ended with the south winning then residents of the Confederate States of America (CSA) will be celebrating their Independence Day 150 years later, maybe on December 24, which is the day in 1860 when South Carolina declared its independence. Also, the capital of United States wouldn’t be located in Washington DC. Several scholars say that slavery would’ve lasted longer because slavery was already abolished in the Northern states. The CSA would have been left as a new country due it being inception on February 1861. It is likely the Confederacy would still exist, though it is possible some portions of it might in time decide to go their own way for other reasons than the original cause of the war. It is likely the South would have gone adventuring, at least for a while into the Caribbean, especially Cuba (there were serious plans in the works), and Central America…especially in places like today's Costa Rica.
