Wolves also don’t trust very easily, which I also find very true to me. They have a deep desire for freedom, and this reminds me of myself because I don’t really like being told what to do.…
With an over abundance of gray wolfs in Northern America during the late 1850s-1900s close to 2 million wolfs were trapped, shot or poisoned. The thought was that they were a danger to livestock. But eradicating the animal had much more dire consequences. These wolfs played an important role to the ecosystem. They kept bison, caribou, deer, elk, and coyote populations under control. The left over meat from these animals also provided meals for bald eagles, grizzly bears, foxes and birds. According to Miller, T., Spoolman, S. (2008), Ecologists recognized the important role this keystone predator species once played in parts of the West and the Great Plains.…

“Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…
The Grey/Gray American Wolf or common wolf is one of the largest members of the dog family. Surprisingly the Grey wolf is not actually grey; the coat can actually vary from shades of white to black. The Grey wolf looks similar to a domestic dog, with a strong body, a heavy head, wide temple and a very predominant jaw. The size of a wolf depends on the environment it resides in, Northern wolves are predominantly bigger. Wolves live in linked families which include the parents, their offspring and sometimes adoptee wolves. The way wolves communicate is by howling, whines, barks, growls, and even body posture. They only hunt things that are not considered food if it is seen as a major threat and prefer wild prey. Although the Grey wolf is one of the largest in the dog family, their numbers have greatly decreased. These decreasing numbers have been caused by generally by humans. These activities include destruction to its habitat, hunting, human intrusion, etc.…

They also demonstrate that they…
“Wolves” Ulrich said under his breath. They both look at each other in fear. There was a long moment of silence. Georg broke the silence with a loud scream for help. “Shut your mouth!” Ulrich yelled “they might not find us if we’re quiet.” There was another long moment of silence until they herd whimpers and cries from the wolves. They looked at each other, both confused, both knowing they were thinking the same thing from their facial expression. Both laid silently.…
When the moon is full the Ahroun (type of wolves) displays certain traits like: Powerful, Brutish, ill Tempered, Savage and zealous. Researchers are trying to find out if the moon affects humans and the only solid link they have found is that before modern lighting the full moon would have kept people awake at night leading to sleep deprivation that could also lead to other mental issues. Sleep deprivation can also leave people ill tempered. Could ill temperedness be explained by wolves? Now some people would be thinking ‘no people are ill tempered all the time’ but think about this; during the time when this accusation was made stories were told whilst sitting around campfires and myths of wolves were ‘all the range’. People are ill tempered all the time but people were often affected by this…
One of the earliest mentions of the dire wolf in fiction is found in the old Nose myths about gods and magical creatures which reflected the harsh landscapes of Scandinavia in the tenth to thirteenth centuries. The dire wolves in this tale are given names such as Fenrir, Sköll and Hati and they are endowed with supernatural powers. They are respected for their power to punish people, and they threaten even the Norse gods, since Fenrir kills the god Odin in the Edda story and has to be tied up by a magic rope to await the twilight of the gods (Larrington, 2008, p. 98). For this reason wolves in Norse fiction were both admired and feared.…
