Why to Read Fiction Books
Fiction Books
Reading fiction is fun and also necessary. It opens your mind to a new place where everything is different from your daily routine. Fiction books can actually make you feel like you already lived that situation, like you felt the good and the bad, the sorrow, the happiness, the people and places. It makes you fly away from your stressing routine and get into a magic world.
An example of a series of fiction books is Harry Potter, written by J.K Rowling. It is a series of seven fantasy novels. The main story arc concerns Harry's quest to overcome the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aims are to become immortal, conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people, and destroy all those who stand in his way, especially Harry Potter.
Since the release of the first novel ‘’Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’’ on 30 June 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide. Movies, games, toys, candies, parks around the world and a lot of other things originated from Harry Potter. It may seem childish and non-mature but the series involves a wide variety of themes other than fantasy. Coming of age, mystery, thriller, adventure, romance, prejudice and even corruption are examples of themes.
Concluding, fiction books are a nice theme to talk about because they are very interesting. People have fun reading and also learn a lot of things. Also, reading can improve our English vocabulary.

Reading fiction showed me a lot of things about personal development and myself. And not just the fact that I would really love to become a vampire!

First, it showed me that too much of anything is a bad thing. No matter what it is. Even though I'm an avid fan of non fiction books, reading a good fiction book every now and then is not only fun, but also necessary.

It opens your mind to a whole new place where things aren't like your every day world. It also gives you that childlike mindset where anything is possible.

The second thing that reading fiction books did was renew my love for reading. While reading was starting to become a chore, I relearned just how enjoyable reading can actually be. I learned that reading is usually ten times better than watching television.

After finishing one of my books, I asked myself when the last time watching a movie or television had me this excited and moved by a story. I decided the last time that came close was when I watched Schindler's List, and that had been a long time ago!

So reading fiction showed me the amazing power that reading can have on you.

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

Reading allows for one to drift away from reality and opens a new door of an alternate fictional world. Literature helps people experience things they would otherwise never be able to experience. Liam O 'Flaherty’s “The Sniper” is a great example of this. When O’Flaherty is explaining the scene where the sniper is on the room lighting a cigarette and a bullet whizzes past his head is a great scene that helps explain what it would be like to be in that position (O’Flaherty page 474). Most people have never been in a war, even fewer in a sniper fire fight, and therefore most people will never know what it is like for those few that have been in that position. But by reading this story, people can almost visualize what it must have been like. The adrenaline pumping through their veins and the terror as a bullet almost hits you seems like an almost impossible thing to understand if you weren’t actually there, but O’Flaherty uses literature to help explain what it was like. Literature can also help explain what it was like to live in a totally different environment. In “Warring Memories” by Kandi Tayebi, she does just that by show us what her husbands like was like in the Middle East. She explains how he would watch CNN and comment on how men should take their rings off or their bodies will be looted and mutilated once they are dead (Tayebi page 510). This again is a life completely different then life in America and by reading about it, it helps spread awareness of what other people’s lives are like. History is another reason to study literature. Many pieces of literature do a great job of explaining history without boring the reader with nothing but facts like a history textbook. “Like a Winding Sheet” by Anne Petry does a very good job of doing just that. It isn’t nearly as boring as reading a civil rights textbook but does a great job of showing how hard life could be for an African- American in the 1960’s. She showed how you could have to work extremely long hours of manual labor without breaks just to…

Books are precious pieces that improve one’s knowledge and help define one’s personality by relating themselves to characters within the text. As Vladimir Nabokov said in Good Readers and Good Writers “The reader should identify himself or herself with the hero or heroine.”(Nabokov, 973) I always believed that by reading a book you become one with yourself by somehow feeling all the problems of the characters and become completely absorbed in their world, therefore feeling like you have a purpose as you read.…
