GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE contruction: San Francisco CA
Over four years, CONSTRUCTION commenced on January the 5th 1933. The bridge was soon opened for vehicular traffic on May the 28th 1937. The Bridge was built by 10 different prime contractors and their subcontractors.
The golden gate is the entrance to San Francisco from the Pacific Ocean. The golden gate bridge is one of the most beautiful bridges, in the world because of its spectacular location and graceful lines.

The idea of a bridge spanning the Golden gate was not new it was made in 1916. Local authorities agreed to precede only on the assurance that Strauss after the design. A suspension-bridge design was considered the most practical, because of recent advances in metallurgy. The bridge faced opposition including litigation from many sources. The department of War was concerned that the bridge would interfere with the ship traffic. Unions demanded guarantees that local workers would be favoured for construction jobs.
design: Iving Morrow,a relatively unknown residental architect,designed the overall shape of the bridge and used elements such as tower decorations,street lights,ralings and walk ways .The Orange color was originally used as a sealant for the bridge. The US Navy had wanted it to be painted with black and yellow stripes to ensure visibility by passing ships.Moisseiff produced the basic structural design, introducing his "deflection theory" by which a thin, flexible roadway would flex in the wind, greatly reducing stress by transmitting forces via suspension cables to the bridge towers. Ellis was also tasked with designing a "bridge
