Why was Queen Elizabeth I of England a good leader? “I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king and of a king of England too” (Queen Elizabeth I). Queen Elizabeth I was Queen of England, Ireland and Wales from 1558 to 1603. She was called the Virgin Queen of legend; she refused to marry and wanted to have authority by herself that is how she became so successful. She was a very intelligent person; she could speak Latin, French and German, as young girl she had a private tutor and her father’s investment in her education. She held the throne for 44 years, keeping England in the prosperity through wars, and political and religious trouble. Queen Elizabeth I was born on the September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was a princess and claimed her throne at the age of 25 and held it for 44 years, she succeeded to the throne on her half-sister's death in November 1558. She insisted that she preferred to stay single and governed the country by herself. By the time she was five years old Elizabeth would have been expected to learn foreign languages and various subjects. She was taught a range of different lessons as part of a standard curriculum for the royal children; her studies included languages, grammar, theology, history, rhetoric, logic, philosophy, arithmetic, logic, literature, geometry, music and religious studies. By the age of eleven Elizabeth was able to speak fluently in six languages; French, Greek, Latin, Spanish, Welsh and English.
