Why Was The American Civil War Inevitable
The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States between the Union and the Confederacy. This war was inevitable because of the economic conflict and the fact that both sides feared the other having more territories. To begin, the economic conflict was mostly due to tariffs. The text states, “When foreign businesses have to pay a tax on what they sell, they must raise the prices they charge, making locally produced goods more attractive to buy. The South had little industry.” Tariffs were placed on foreign manufactured goods. The South heavily relied on manufactured goods, and due to having little industry they continuously had to pay tariffs and they felt overcharged.
