The Great War began in the year 1914 when Austria declared war on Serbia ultimately causing chaos across the globe. Allies travelled vast distances to join in the fight resulting in a world war. Thousands of soldiers were murdered from every nationality creating significant consequences for politicians economically. The German army marched across the Belgian borders on the 4th of August 1914, their master plan to execute an ambush on the French from behind. This was known as the Schlieffen Plan. The La Dame Blanche also known as the “White Lady”, was created in the city of Liège by Walthère Dewè, Jean Desonay and Herman Chauvin. They were a network of ordinary civilians who felt provoked because of the monstrosities achieved by the Germans. The network concentrated on the surveillance of railways while reporting German movement to English soldiers in the Netherlands. This intelligence resulted in the British army knowing the details of all of the Germans positions. By the end of the war, they had assembled more then one thousand agents including woman covering large areas across the occupied territories of Belgium. This was a problem for the German army as war plans failed due to the extensive patriotism from the resistance groups.
