Requirements for Book:
The book must be fiction.
The book must be at least 100 pages in length (the longer the book, the easier it will be to write the review)
The book must be approved by the professor by October 1, 2013.
Requirements for Review:
3-5 complete pages (not including cover page)
Typed
Double Spaced
MLA citation of book at the top of the paper
MLA style for quotations -- Example: “When the people gathered together on one of the great trial days, they never knew whether they were to witness a bloody slaughter or a hilarious wedding” (p. 247).
Do not use first person!!!
The review should answer the following questions in full paragraphs and sentences.
Who are the main characters? Don’t just list them; describe them.
Who are the supporting characters? Don’t just list them; describe them.
What is the setting? The setting is the time, place, and surroundings of a story.
What is the plot? Briefly state the main actions of the story.
What are the conflicts? What are the issues, obstacles, or people that the main characters deal with in the book?
What are the significant quotations of the book? Choose three to five sentences that are vital to the story and explain why they are essential.
Explain which chapter of the book was your favorite and why.
What was the author’s main idea in the book (which will likely be implied)?
