Every soldier fighting on the front lines for the United States is there because he or she volunteered and made a huge sacrifice for their very own country. However, If people were forced to join the military, then the troops might not be as reliable because some soldiers might be unmotivated to fight causing them to lose their life (Draft lottery 1969). Although the military is an excellent place for young people to learn about real discipline, some of them will not have respect for the service the military has provided. And nobody would want any soldiers fighting in combat who did not really want to be there in the first place. However, others who are against military service should be able to fulfill his or her duty by taking on specific tasks that does not involve having to go to war. Some people could be on-call forest rangers in which if a forest fire broke out, they could help fight it. Others might be better at rebuilding neighborhoods or building homes for homeless people and low-income families. Other options could include working on emergency crews in times of natural disaster or even end up teaching in rural schools. The young generation could also be patriotic to their country just by doing humanitarian work and joining the Peace Corps.
