Why We Should Cell Phones Not Be Banned
Dear council,

Cell Phones should not be banned in privately owned businesses. Cell Phones have been a main source of communication. Cell Phones are allowed to be used anywhere. Retail stores, Theatres, and restaurants can not force someone to not use their Cell Phone. Cell phones should not be banned because of emergencies, cell phones have played a major role in society, and businesses will lose profit.

First of all, Cell Phones should not be banned because of an emergency. If a retail store were to ban Cell phones and an emergency were to arise that wouldn't be able to call 911. A scenario would be if a family member was in an accident and absolutely needs the time of the person that he is calling. However, since the person in the establishment can't use his cell phone in the area, the needed person could not be reached and a horrific event would occur. The banning of cellphones could have highly upset the person in need. The banning of phones in retail stores could

Nowadays, people are glued to their cell phone. The amount of commotion that would be produced from the ban is insurmountable. Banning the use of cellphones in restaurants is acceptable for it is rude to the service of the company but nonetheless, the need for a cell phone is uncanny and very important. Theaters may ban the use of cell phones during a movie but, please explain how a child would contact his parents for pickup. Finally, Cell Phones should not be banned because businesses would lose profit. A majority of the people today use cell phones for everything. People would be discouraged from going to the retail stores or theaters because of the cell phone ban. This doesn't harm the consumers but it does affect businesses in a bad way. The stores may see a benefit to the ban of cell phones but the harsh reality is that it would be detrimental to their businesses. If the stores don't want to fail then they should not enforce the

Using the search engine Google. I found an article from the journal.com asking “Are Cell Phone Bans Worth the Trouble. In this particular school, if students were caught on their technology devices the first time they would have to pay a fee of $15 to get their cell phones back or convince a parent to come and pick it up. The second time the student is caught on their device a parent has to come and pick up the phone and also pay the fee. According to the article 32% of school districts had the same policy for personal technology devices. Although in 2010 51% of principals said they were going to allow the use of personal devices in school. In the particular school the principal came to agree with the 51% of the principals allowing students…

Cell phones are not just a privilege in people’s lives anymore but have become a necessity in order for people to function on a daily basis. Not a minute goes by where cell phones aren’t being used somewhere at some time. The average American looks at their phone 150 times per day. That works out to once every 6.5 minutes of every hour that the average person is awake. (Glaser) As high as those numbers are, the usage of cell phones will only continue to increase as time goes on. Cell phones have their advantages but the amount of time people spend on their cellphones is ruining face to face communication, jeopardizing jobs in the future, and putting people’s lives at a higher risk.…

Based on my experience and experiences of those I know, I believe that law should ban all cell phone use. Laws have passed recently restricting the use to a hands free device while driving. I feel this is a good move in the right direction however; a hands free device can be equally as distraction. Some claim the distraction is no different from changing a radio station or taking a sip of your beverage. I do not believe this claim to be true.…

Cell Phones shouldn't be aloud in schools because of all the bullying and harassment that goes on in the classroom. They could use their cellular devices for cheating on worksheets, quizzes, and tests. Students can take pictures of other students without their permission and post them on social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc. But Cell Phones should be aloud in school because they can take their homework home and be able to find their assignments easier. They should also be allowed in schools because it is easier for the students to follow along in reading and watching videos.…

Cell phones may be a very useful tool in school because they contain multiple uses including a camera, a messaging system, a calculator, and even a web browser on some models. This may sound like a good suggestion to have one in school, but allowing cell phones in school is not a good idea. Many students will abuse their cell phones abilities like texting in class which will distract the student and prevent the student from learning. Therefore, cell phones should not be allowed in school because it will lure the student to use it and it will cause many problems for the student and the teacher.…

For various reasons, I believe schools should ban the use of cell phones at school. Some people might argue that students could use their cell phones as educational tools; however, personally, I am one of the students who you could say has a “cell phone addiction.” I am usually the one teachers catch texting from the corner of their eye as my fingers move quickly across the keyboard of my cell phone during class. Also, teachers find cell phones distracting. If a student is texting during class they cannot put their full, undivided attention into what the teacher is saying, there for what is the point of trying to explain something to someone who isn’t paying attention. Finally, teachers come to school to educate students because it is their job, and they find it disrespectful if a student isn’t listening.…

Some of the cons about city council to ban cell phones in public areas such as restaurants, movie theatres, retail stores, or small private businesses is that you would lose your ways of communication with others. If there was an emergency you would not be able to get ahold of anybody because you would not have any contact. Sometimes others may want to get a hold of you too, but they would not be able to do that because your cell phone would be banned. Anything can always happen and that anything that can always happen at anytime. A lot of people are very, well I forgot the word, but it means like when you see things happening to other people, but you don’t care because you do not think that it could ever happen to you. We all have a cell phone for a specific reason, and most of the time, we do not have cell phones just because you want one, or it has games, or everyone has one. Most people have a cell phone to keep in contact with others…

Most people are on their phone a lot throughout the day so we have to find some way to get them off if it and communicate. Some businesses have already tried to stop cell phone usage. Restaurants like Chick-Fil-A have tried to have people put their phones away while they are eating. For example, they would had a tub to a family to put all their phones in and if they stay off of the phones the whole time then they get something free from the restaurant. Businesses need to start realizing that this is a real problem in society and need to step in and help the cause.…
