Why We Shouldn T Animal Testing Be Banned Essay
Don’t we all love our cats and dogs, our beloved pets? We would all be bought to tears if anything were to happen to them. Why is it not the same for all other animals? The cruel treatment of animals needs to stop. As a leading researcher in the Animal Cruelty Australia Program, I have seen the horrific treatment of animals first hand. This conference on the unfair treatment of animals aims to change the way people think about cruelty to animals and what Australia needs to do to stop it. Animals used for food production, animal testing and entertainment are all suffering. Animals are not mankind’s property, we must look after them by treating them as equals and we must stop animal cruelty.

Do you really even know which products use animal testing? Your toothpaste from Colgate and Oral-B, your deodorant from Dove and Lynx and your makeup from MAC and Clinique: all animal tested products. Some of Australia’s most used brands use animals to their advantage when there are other modern methods of testing products that are much more reliable. The unnecessary and unreliable experiments on animals should be banned. Dogs, cats, mice and rabbits are blinded, burned, poisoned and killed in painful experiments. Although brands and companies don’t use animals for testing here in Australia, it is still legal. Unfortunately it will be a tough challenge to stop international cold hearted companies from experimenting on animals overseas. However, by only buying products that are known to not use animal testing or looking out for the symbol of a leaping bunny -the internationally known symbol for cruelty free products- is a good way for Australia to fight animal testing. It’s time that the world uses more accurate and humane ways to test products opposed to destroying the lives of innocent animals. Animals are not ours to

I don 't believe that people would want to be used for testing new products to see what type of allergies or adverse effects these new products could cause, nor would they want their family members to be tested against their will. So why is it okay for animals to be tested on? I feel animals should have rights too and do not deserve to be treated bad. Many animals are subject to inhumane conditions and procedures in the “name of science”. Animals are used for testing in everything from that trendy matte red lipstick from Covergirl Cosmetics to medical lab testing used to correctly identify the antibody signaling an immune response in lab rats. Animal testing has a vast range of uses with little to no rules identifying the treatment the animal subject to testing is subjected to. Many different brands, especially cosmetic brands, have cruelty-free stickers on their products to let the customer know the product was produced without harm to animals. The United States of America has not limited the use of animal testing yet, however, the European Union has limited animal testing and banned the use of testing on animals on cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients (European…

Cosmetic and drug companies should advertise their use of animal testing in the same way as tobacco companies. When people buy cigarettes and dip, they always have to say things like, “this product can cause tooth loss, lung cancer, mouth disease/cancer, etc.” Cosmetic and drug companies should have to do the same thing. When businesses use animal testing, their products should all, in bold letters and in an obvious spot, say something like, “animals were harmed making this lipstick,” or, “600 baby mice were poisoned in the making of this skin cream,” because people don’t know. If this was what businesses had to do with their products packaging, they would suffer and it would basically force them into finding another way to test their products, so they can get the animal abuser label off of their…

Animal testing has been going on for a couple of years now. Scientists use animal testing as a form of “safe” testing. According to Humane Society International, animal testing is, “Procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into the basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals. Cosmetic tests performed on animals include dropping chemicals in the animal’s eyes. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly. Animal testing is basically that, so, technically, animal testing is animal abuse. Animals should not be experimented on because the testing is somewhat like torture and they are innocent. Although huge developments have been made with animal testing, about 90% of successful animal testing is not successful when used on humans.…

Many people today can say they love their pet, whether it is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or fish. Little do we actually think about the animals suffering to the torture of cruel animal testing that goes on behind the scenes of the company’s we love. Maybelline, Head and Shoulders, and Clorox are all companies that test on animals, yet are still supported by the thousands of people that buy and use their products. I believe the main reason people continue to support companies that perform animal testing is because society today is not informed or educated about the severity of animal testing. People do not know or care to research if a company performs animal testing. Besides consumers keeping these companies alive and running, animal testing is not humane or morally right. It has been scientifically proven that animals can to a certain extent feel pain (Tell Me if it Hurts: Investigating Whether Animals Feel Pain by Caroline…
