By attending as an honor student at Lake Worth High School, non-academic clubs such as the Bullfrog Marching Band and the FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America), both of which I have belonged to since middle school, give me an opportunity to see both the hospitality world and the musical world. These two clubs have given me a greater sense of what these careers may be like. In Band, I participated in football games and performances that created the music in life, changing the essence of someone's ears by allowing the melody to play within. Music not only allowed me to be myself around a group of others with the same passion, but exemplified my capabilities of being unique. By entertaining others for their enjoyment, my heart sinks in with warm feelings knowing I did that, along with my band family. In FCCLA, I demonstrated my love for the community and care of others by taking action and donating any resources possible to areas in need, all year round, with the help of the student body.
The organizations I spent my quality free time with allow me interact with people outside my own immediate environment. I meet different kinds of people, in different moods, with different attitudes, and with different values. This activity teaches me to be patient with people, to have responsibility, and to express what it may feel like to appreciate people for what they mean to us.

Adjacent to that the author shows the readers the different experiences in which he learned the lessons that made him appreciate the opportunity to go to college. I agree with the author when he talks about “Factory life has shown me what my future might have been like had I never gone to college in the first place (Braaksma, 2005).” I agree because working a real-world job can help you see how college is possibly a better path to a successful career. I feel this way because of my own experiences working at various jobs over the years. Furthermore, when the author goes deeper into his experiences by saying “All the advice and public-service announcements about the value of an education that used to sound trite now ring true (Braaksma,…

My desire to be a part of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is driven by a passion for performing music. Four years ago, with very little experience under my belt regarding music, I joined the Dracut High School Marching Band, not knowing the difference between the xylophone and the marimba. Little did I know that playing and performing music for myself and others would lead to who I am as a person now.…

In my role as the school’s Student Music Head this year, I have become an effective communicator through acting as a liaison between the faculty and students. Moreover, my mentorship position with the Each One Teach One Program has taught me how to be a role model in everything I do–in skating with my buddy, talking about hobbies and even writing letters–I lead by influence. I also am a leader in my community through my role as a volunteer youth counselor for children’s day camps. My position as a counselor drives me to set the goal of being a role model for younger students; a goal I achieve by having an open mind, exhibiting both honesty and humility, and offering…

Many people in my life have prepared me for my future and have taught me how to handle any obstacle thrown my way. My parents have inspired me to never settle for anything but the best, and have taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. Both of my parents came from families without a strong financial basis or a stronghold of people who believed that they could excel; moreover, this led my parents to becoming doctors and providing support in every aspect for my sister and I. My parents’ determination has led to my belief in the veracious message: nothing is going to be handed to you because you must work to make something happen. As I have gotten older and realize the little time I have left sheltered by my parents, this idea has prepared me for the real world due to the fact that I know not to take anything for granted, but to work for what I want to accomplish in life.…

As somebody who always had trouble fitting in in school, it was really hard to find a place of which I could be a part of. As section leader of the clarinets at Mukwonago High School’s top band ensemble, I am expected to guide my section to success. I lead sectionals and help the other clarinet players with high notes and intricate rhythms. We go over how our parts connect with each others and how they connect with other sections in the ensemble. Aiding younger members of my section helps both me and them to grow musically. I also help lead our jazz combo at school. In a team effort, we express our ideas on phrasing and how we can evoke emotion through the notes and rhythms to the audience. When we share our thoughts and ideas with each other, we promote a friendly and accepting atmosphere that we then take to our other classes. In our marching band I may not be section leader, but I lead by example as one of the strongest mellophone players. By memorizing my music and executing my location in our formations, I set myself and those around me up for success. With all of this teaching and performing experience, I am ready to move on to…
