Will students benefit with more social workers in school
What is a Social Worker? According to (Garrett, 2006) A social worker is a profession devoted to improving an individual’s ability to solve complex social problems in order to create a more human society, by way of explanation a social worker should be really have a passion to changing one’s life so they could have they could have the opportunity to make a difference in their environment. One of the keystones of social work practice is the focus on the strengths, as opposed to the shortcoming, of individuals, families and communities so that these can be deployed to find creative solutions for complex social problems. The building foundation of social work is to mainly focus on the positive strengths rather than the negatives when dealing with the environment. The profession is characterized by steadfast commitment to social justice in the service of empowering individuals, families, and communities to meet their needs. Social workers can be found in hospitals, governmental agencies, and schools (Garrett, 2013). Basically social workers are there to assist in needs whether it is for an individual, family, or the community. They are able to reach out and connect people with resources that they may not have access to.
School social workers are more skilled at helping students and families become emotionally stable. They also have effective methods that are known to be very ethical, monitoring the results of their practice to make sure that their clients are getting the right services, and report the results (Garret, 2006). In other words they have a set guideline that they go by that is known to work effectively, to watch after the result of the practice to ensure that clients are receiving the service, and are
