Why I Want to Be a Teacher
Why Do I Want To Become A Teacher?
Everyone has gotten to where they are in life because they had a teacher. By definition, a teacher is someone who gives instruction and communicates skills. The lives most impacted by teachers are those of our children. Teaching makes a difference in children, because it gives them tools to help them be successful in the future.
Our children are our future, and they need to be prepared for the future in order to be successful in the working world. The future of our communities and even our nation lies in the hands of our children. The quality of men and women we develop will impact the future of this nation. Therefore, I see teaching as one of the best ways I can help create a greater tomorrow for our great nation.
As a father of four boys, I am constantly amazed at the extent of knowledge my children display in the various fields of science, mathematics, and social studies. Science has been my profession for over 25 years, and now that I feel led to become an educator, I will have a lot in common to share with my kids in that field. As a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for several years, I am a life changer by calling. Even before I became a minister, I have been a scientist for 12 years and I have always admired the life changing role of teachers in this field and others. All this in mind, I am excited to enroll as a teacher and combine my two great passions.
I have taught various classes since 1996 to safety professionals, engineers, environmental specialists, and technicians along with the teachings of religious principles in the continents of Europe, Africa and America.
The last few weeks of training I have received have moved me closer to my goal of becoming an educator of great professional standing. I love innovation and am always very excited about putting into practice the concepts I learn. I am ready and willing to face my first days of school with high expectations for myself and my students.
Hope, faith, and love for learning are my driving principles. They will be the colors with which I will paint my teaching career. I look forward to positively building up the lives of our children, and I will dedicate the next few years to learning and sharing with others as a way of life.

Over the course of my day at Shepherdstown elementary I learned a lot more than I thought would even be possible. I witnessed both the good and bad moments during my one short day. Mrs. Austin seemed to have it all together, she was an amazing role model in the classroom and showed me what I should and shouldn’t do in certain situations. Observing the classroom showed me that I need to learn a lot of vital information throughout the program at Shepherd in order to be able to become successful in the classroom one day. When I started my day at Shepherdstown Elementary, I had mixed feelings. I was passionate and eager to be there but I also felt a sense of intimidation and fear when I started interacting with the students. I began to watch the teachers and see what they were doing. After sitting in the classroom and getting adjusted, my feelings had transformed. I started becoming more comfortable and feeling a lot better about where I was. By the end of the day I had a remarkable time and I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own one-day.…

In my heart I have always wanted to teach. I believe that there are three ingredients to learning. All children can learn, children should be respected as people, and children are children and should be treated that way. I believe that children are able to learn regardless of their race, religion, social status and the environment around them. With a little patience and kindness you can teach a child almost anything. Respect is something that is earned. I believe that if you show children the respect that they deserve they will respect you in return. My goal as an educator is to help children learn in a safe, healthy, nurturing and structured environment. I think that children learn best when there are clear and concise rules and when they are able to participate in their learning. During my teaching experience, I find that children learn with different learning styles. Multiple intelligences play a big role in their learning.…

By definition, a teacher is someone who provides educational instruction and communicates lifelong lessons. To me, teachers are much more than that. Teachers can touch base on topics you normally wouldn’t find in a text book. The purpose of education is not to fill the minds of children with facts, but to teach them how to think for themselves. Teachers can inspire children to be proud of who they are and help them overcome their adversities. I have chosen to go into this field because I want to help get children ready for an important part of their lives. Watching my son grow and having the privilege of being able to see how his young mind is starting to put pieces together has made me want to be a part of that for all young…

Having the chance to help kids is a great advantage by itself. You never know what they may have going on outside of the classroom. Being a teacher will give me the ability to provide them with not only education, but a lot more. I can be there to give them structure, advice, influence, and support when they need it. I feel all of these are essential for a great learning experience and I would love to be one of the ones to give that to them.
