Introductory writing assignment I want to be a high school English teacher because I want the opportunity to make a difference in the world. While it may not be as big of a difference as I could see or make in another career I simply want the chance to change somebody’s life, and give my students the chance to do the same for me. I want to take someone who hates school and make them see the beauty that can be found in words, language and writing. I want somebody’s mind to be opened because of my teaching. Language is often referred to as an art, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. It is one of the few areas in school that is creative. I want to see the passion inside of students writing, as well as give them an appreciation for language. I do not want to be an English teacher just to give students a grade, or to sit there and judge their writing I want to show them that what they have to say is important and is worth more than a grade. I simply want to be there to give constructive criticism. I want people to view English class as an opportunity rather than an obligation. I hope to help people acquire a passion for learning, for people to want to pick up a book in their spare time and see where it can take them. I simply want to help people realize the places that language can take you. To me a good teacher is somebody who loves their job, and has a passion for what they are doing. They care not only about what they are teaching but also about the students they are teaching and want nothing more than to help them succeed and reach their wildest dreams. In order to be a good teacher they need to be knowledgeable about what they are teaching about. They need to be dedicated to the job and the students, and flexible to work around every student to the best of their abilities. They need to be patient and realize that not every student works at the same pace. They also need to be relatable, students will find it much easier to learn from them if they know what they are talking about. For example an English teacher should be up to date on current literature, just as a music teacher should be up to date on modern music. When I am a teacher I intend on becoming a good teacher by playing up to my advantages, I am young so I feel that will make me much more relatable, I wasn’t in high school all that long ago. I will show my students that I care about them by doing my best to prove that I am trustworthy, and I am not just there to give them a grade but help them expand their horizons. I will show them that I love what I do by being passionate about my job, always keeping their best interest in mind, and going out of my way to make sure every student succeeds and preforms as good as he or she is willing to in the class. In my mind the purpose of education is to help prepare students for whatever they have coming for them in life. English in specific is necessary for everyone, whether they have an academic future or not. It is important for everyone to be able to have a proper conversation, even if it is just for a job interview it is important to be able to make yourself sound intelligent. To me the purpose of education is to better people, to give them an opportunity for a better future. I hope my students learn from me a passion for learning. I want to instill in them a love for education, knowledge and just getting the most out of the everyday. As mentioned earlier there is so many reasons I want to be a teacher but one of the main reasons is that I want to change their minds and change English, language and literature from an obligation to an opportunity. After my class I just want students to see the power that lies in words, through language, literature and even their own writing. I just want to implement a change.

What makes a good instructor? There are lots of factors, which determine the answer to this question, and one of the most important aspects of being a good teacher is, I believe, the teaching strategy of a teacher. I think that teachers play a very important role in molding the career of a student emotionally, technically and intellectually. A good teacher is a person who works with a single powerful goal in mind: working for the best interests of all the students, which help them, succeed socially and academically. I certainly don't agree with the statement made by Dunny that a good teacher is just about knowing the curriculum and forcing the stuff on the students without taking much interest in it. I think that…

I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.…

I 've loved to read and write ever since I was taught my ABC 's for the first time. It 's been a huge part of my life in a lot of different aspects. I learned how to read when I was three years old because I went to a daycare where I was the youngest kid and the only one who couldn 't read. Reading and writing just stuck with me after that. After I started reading better than my older daycare-mates, school was ready for me to conquer. The school put me with older kids right away and I was in English class with 3rd graders when I was in kindergarten. It helped me out with making friends and I always got along with older kids better than my own classmates. Elementary school is my favorite time of my life so far, because of all of the little things I learned from school and the kids that were around me and I don 't think it would have been even close to how fun it was if it weren 't for me being able to read so young. My love for reading stayed with me through junior high and high school too. I started reading more historical and biographical books than adventure and story books as I got older. My favorite books went from the “Harry Potter” series to Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln biographies. Starting in high school too, I got more into writing than before. I would try writing stories when I was in 4th or 5th grade, but I could never write more than two pages without me changing the whole story because I didn 't think it was cool anymore. So, I never really thought much about writing until I enrolled in our school 's journalism and media literacy courses. This class was in charge of our school 's newspaper and designed our yearbooks and programs for school events. I ended up being an editor for the paper. My job watched over all of the sports stories and events around our school and was in charge of making sure the Sports portion of the paper was sleek and…

I believe that everyone, one way or another, has progressed to where they are in life because they had a teacher. A teacher by definition is someone who provides educational instruction and communicates lifelong lessons. However, I see teachers beyond that common definition. Teachers have the opportunity to shed light on topics not commonly found in text books, to teach skills that students can use in real life, and to inspire students to overcome their adversities. But why become a teacher when you can become a doctor? Or a lawyer? I asked myself these same questions prior to joining the education program at the University of Guam. I found great intrinsic value of teaching by being able to inspire students to help others and to provide equal opportunities for those children who are considered “at risk”. I also found great extrinsic value in teaching because it provides a great work schedule and I am able to travel the world because education is rooted in every country.…

A job can be simply defined as a regular activity performed in exchange for payment. I believe that today you have to be extremely gifted at a job in order to be able to stay with it your entire working career. Nowadays many people are thrown from job to job seeking stability in their lives. Almost everyone enters the work force to try and provide whatever they can for their family. It’s hard to compete in today’s occupations with more and more people striving to get to the top, to be the boss with the newly remodeled home, 2.5 kids, golden retriever, cabin in the mountains, and Mercedes Benz. People feel a great achievement when they have reached the point where they can provide these material things to their families no matter how they do it or what they have to go through to get it, whether it be working long hours or cheating the stock market. Unfortunately it’s the same people who forget who got them to the point where they can afford their Mercedes Benz. I feel that credit should not only be given to family, friends, and pastors, rabbis or priests, but also to teachers. Any school could always use another good teacher, one who truly cares about what they teach and who they are teaching to, which is why I want a job that will not only fulfill my life but also the lives of others around me. My dream job is to become a teacher.…

I personally have an image of a teacher as being someone who is kind, loving, gentle, patient and understanding. My own thoughts of what I believe a teacher should be, along with my life experiences and goals all contribute to why I want to be a teacher. As foreign language students we possess the capacity to learn a new language, for example English. It might be easy to speak it, read it and listen it, but what about writing? Writing might be disliked and avoided for students because it is frustrating. It is frustrating because it is unnatural. Speaking is natural and not frustrating; when we speak, our words flow out easily. We do not think about the grammatical correctness of the utterances, nor do we think about mechanics. We do not repeat utterances over and over again to check for correctness or appropriateness. Most writing, on the contrary, does not flow out smoothly or spontaneously, we are constantly checking for correctness. In order to avoid that apathy and those difficulties that embrace students when writing in English, teachers need to analyze them so they could overcome that lack of interest they have when learning the writing of English. Those difficulties are going to be exposed in this essay.…
