When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…
Everyone wants to go to a high school where they’re going to be accepted in or simply to find out what they’re going want to do later in their life. A high school where students will grow and make a difference because it is not about just graduating and you’re done. It is about making memories and making it the best four years of the students’ life. Then, continuing that journey once they’re finished with high school because they have seen how much they have accomplished in those four years. Going to a great high school can change their life and make a difference because not every high school is the same. Students need to believe there are more to be done with their life. This is for the young people who are concerned about finding a career…
High school is a time when challenges are all around, the only difference is sometimes a person doesn’t see them even though there right in front of their face. In other words they are still too young to have the experience to recognize them. Last year I dealt with the challenge of re-evaluating my major of what I thought I wanted to do as a career. For years I felt strong…
Thesis: Waiting a year after students graduate from high school, otherwise known as “the gap year”, should not be acceptable because students do not usually return to school, the family members usually don’t want the students to leave home, most students are worn out from high school, and the whining down process will become a bigger problem in the future.…
It also really inspires me to really give everything I have and to take risks. My aspirations for my career is to go into Physical Therapy. After my four years at MSU, I hope to be able to go to John Hopkins to further my education for Physical Therapy. After I finish schooling, I want to work in a practice for a while, then when I am more experienced, I want to try and open my own practice. As for my aspirations at MSU, I really want to be at the top of the class, and just get all the hands on experience I can get, and really enjoy what I am learning. I know that my dreams take work and a lot of dedication, so to help me achieve them, I know I need to set smaller goals to keep myself inspired, but having something to work for that’s realistic at that moment. I will use each of the smaller goals as stepping stones to my ultimate goal of owning my own practice. This will be easy because I work harder for things that mean a lot to me, and this is very…
My life in high school did no go very well because I would get in a lot of trouble by getting in fights in high school. Until one day they decided to kick me out because I was a handful and they did not know what to do with me anymore. I would tell them to give me another chance but they would tell me no because they already gave me too much chances and that I did not take advantage of them and keep on getting in trouble and kept getting in fights. Knowing that I got kicked out made me think that I will not do go in my future. So I decided to find a…
I have found education that a technical college provides is different from that of a four year university. While many people believe that a university is by far better, technical colleges tend toward fewer students per class, which means more student to teacher interaction. This is good for students who like access to their instructors so they can ask questions and avoid getting lost. This is one thing I love about going to Manhattan Technical College. If I need help I can always ask my teachers or e-mail them and they will be sure to get back to me quickly. Fewer students to teacher ratio means more one on one time with student and teacher, therefore enhances a students learning. It also means more recognition per student and individual teaching.…
High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…
Growing up, I have always struggled in school, the work and the classes never interested me. I never had the freedom I wanted to broaden my abilities. I’m the student who always told herself, “just 180 days to go, just suck it up and get it over with”, and currently, that is what I am doing. But now, as a senior in high school, I finally get the freedom I have been longing for to do and achieve what I want with my life. The first step, picking a school that’s going to be right for me, a school that’s going to give me the tools I need to be the best I can be, and now after typing that, it sounds really cliché, but it’s true. The Fashion Institute of Technology is my key to the life I want. While it can offer me with possibly the best experience of my life, I can offer it an open mind to anything and everything.…
Throughout high school, I have taken advantage of the numerous educational opportunities available at the high school and undergraduate level. As a freshman, I took classes that would prepare me for for the International Baccalaureate Program, the most demanding academic program offered at Millennium High School. During my freshman year in high school, my preparation consisted of taking advanced classes at the high school, and beginning my postsecondary coursework at Estrella Mountain Community College.…
What does college success me to me? To me it means a lot of things such as graduating with at least a B average without dropping out or failing any of my classes but most importantly it means that I walked away with something important. If you fail, you are still successful as long as you know that you tried your best, and did whatever it took to get there even if you didn’t fully succeed. Success is getting everything you want or need in life by working your hardest and trying your best and not doing anything meaningless. Success to me is getting everything you want or need in life by working your hardest and trying your best. When all the goals that I had set for myself have been fulfilled, then I can say that my time at college was truly a success. College success means to me more than just grades in college, it also means that I used my time wisely and took my education seriously, trying the hardest I possibly could, and being productive. Trying to get as much knowledge I can get out of it so I can apply it to day to day issues or work being done . You gain experience in a lot of different stuff. You want to know what your field contains and you want to have the full college experience. The reason I why I am attending college here at NOVA is because so I can get a good education and a transfer to 4 year college to finish my college education. While I am getting an education, I want to obtain a degree so I can be able to obtain a good paying job that I know and will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. That is my take on college…

Aside from all of my doubts and fears I think high school will be a good thing. It will open my eyes to new experiences and provide me with new knowledge. I hope high school will take me places. I never knew I would make it this far in life. Ten years from now, with the help of a good high school education, I see…
