One Short Day

Stage was fully designed, lights are expensively done, performers ready, crowds screaming for excitement for this years musical play by the fourth year AB Mass Comunnication students “The Wicked: The untold story of The Witches of Oz”. Students continously passing through the venue as the show was about to start and it was almost filled with crowd. Walking inside the Bulwagang Diego Cera really felt the excitement of the crowd because of the extravagant lighting, sound effects, stage design, everything was pleasing to the eyes and was very magical. As the curtains opened, the show started smoothly with cheerful crowds amazed by the appearance of the Ozians, the student of the Shiz University and the two main characters Glinda or Galinda as she prefer people to pronouce her name she was the popular good witch which was played by Maricris Soriano and Elphaba the unnaturally green skinned lady that turned out to be the wicked witch which was played by Michelle Areglado. Really felt like watching a professional stage play performers by these students because of their undeniably great acts during the show. Amazing lights and sound effects added a huge thrill while watching each scenes of the show that keeps the crowd wanting to know more about the story it also gives much success to each scene especially when Elphaba the green skinned lady peformed the amazing act the “Defying Gravity” scene. Felt nothing but goosebumps all throughout the show, plus the amazing voices of all the performers. Not a fan of musical plays but this is such a great show to watch that can really catch the attention of the viewers. Entertained and amazed faces filled the Bulwagang Diego Cera as the musical play came to its end. Amazing story was really played by these year’s musical play of AB Mass Communication students. “Changed for good” as the moral lesson of the story says, I think all of us we’re changed for good after

    Spirited Away Review

Spirited away is an enchanting, dazzling, and gorgeously drawn fairy tale that will leave the viewers a little more curious and fascinated by the world around them. This Japanese animated fantasy film was directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, and was released on July 27, 2001. The story was based on Miyazaki’s friend’s ten year old daughter, who visited his house every summer. The movie portrays a sullen ten year old girl, Chihiro Ogino (voice by Daveigh Chase), and her parents who were driving to their new home, when her father takes a wrong turn and ends up at what they think is an abandoned amusement park, but really is an alternate reality inhabited by monsters and spirits. Witch Yubaba turns her parents into pigs, and in order to find a way to free herself and her parents and escape into the human world, Chihiro takes a job working at Yubaba’s bathhouse. This movie can compare to ‘Alice in the Wonderland’ because they both tell the story of a 10-year-old girl who wanders into a world of strange creatures and illogical rules. It was a little hard to interpret the meaning and moral of the movie at first, but it was still a pleasure to watch. The cinematography was well done and the animations were well flowing and seemed to dance off the screen. Director Miyazaki’s drawing style is incredible, and is much different from classical Japanese graphic artists, with its clear lines, rich detail, subtle uses of colors, and the realistic deception of fantastic elements. The music in this film was composed and conducted by Miyazaki's regular collaborator Joe Hisaishi, and performed by the New Japan Philharmonic. The music was beautifully put together, and in the special features of the DVD, Hayao Miyazaki explains how the song in fact inspired him to create Spirited Away. Therefore, I give this film an A-, and Spirited away is a work of pagan imagination that everyone should watch…

The national spelling bee is a big thing and takes a lot of motivation to get to the final level. We watched eight students on their journey through the national spelling bee and I am going to talk about three of them and what their motivation was to get them that far. I have chosen to talk about Neil Kadakia, Emily Staag, and Nupur Lala. Now all of these contestants were in the top ten and Nupur Lala was the winner, and I feel that they all had great motivation to do so great.…

In today’s world, there are so many different ideas on how women should live and who we are as women. It is so easy to get caught up in the lies of this world; including the lies about who God is and also about who we are. When we listen to these lies instead of listening to God, it often leads to feelings of uncertainty and insignificance.…

"Best Night Ever", this was the theme of Kid Rocks summer tour that sold out a record 8 shows at DTE Energy Music Theatre this past summer. Alzheimer is the most common cause of dementia, characterized by gradual deterioration of memory and the personality and marked by the formation of plaques of beta-amyloid and tangles of tau protein in the brain. In the movie, Away From Her, the clinic provided services to people with Alzheimer’s disease. Majority of the people admitted to this clinic were the elderly. There were two floors where the patients resided. First floor was for patients with early and beginning stages of the disease. The second floor was for patients that developed further along in the disease and could not function without the aid of a caretaker. The facility provided a large open area for patients to socialize with others, a dining room and leisure room with puzzles, television, and other fun activities. It always had a nurse on the floor to watch over the facility.…

The world-acknowledged, professional production of Wicked the Musical, is indeed a piece of quality theatre. With theatre goers attending the show expecting to be blown away with the glorious sets and costumes, it is not usually a play that is put under the analytical microscope. What theatre goers often miss from the whole show is the amount of deep dramatic meaning there is at it 's core. Wicked is essentially about the hard…

In the book The Lovely Bones, Alice Sebold does a remarkable job of making her characters realistic to her readers. Sebold does this by telling the story through the eyes of the victim, Susie Salmon, who sees and knows everything about everyone around her. Elora is a natural performer so, when she was cast in her first production with the SAHS Drama program, it was not a surprise that she would do very well. The practice schedule for members of the South Aiken High School Drama Club can be quite rigorous; however, Elora proved to be the perfect cast member right from the start. She is passionate about theater, so it is a natural environment for her. South Aiken’s Drama Club is an intense experience, because students are in full control of the production. As such, they build sets, find and create costumes, cast the production, and bond into an ensemble unit to create a unified illusion on the stage. Our students…

This article focuses on “Kinksters”, people who engage in what some people may call “perverted” or “kinky” sex practices and relationships. The authors started their research by investigating people who celebrate the moniker “pervert” but noticed the lack thereof diversity in research samples and questioned: Is this lack because of added stigma of race, class and educational status? The method used to obtain the data for this article came from three sources: the authors own original research (study of intersecting sexual identities, ethnographic studies of Canadian lesbian/queer bathhouses and longitudinal study on polyamorists), others’ studies of “kinksters” and “polyamorists”; and communications with other researchers online.…

    Sinderela Play

Last December 9, we went to Aliw Theater to watch the play “Sinderela”. The show started at 3:00pm. Before the real play started, there was some introductory play that was held. There were some ballet dancers and some foreign musicians that kept the audience entertained. I found it very interesting because they have been moving in sync, all at the same time. It lasted for 1 hour, and after the Introductory Part, they were given a big round of applause for their outstanding performance. A 10-minute break was given to the audience before the Sinderela Play starts. After that 10-minute break, the play started. The introduction to the play was so creative. They used Tableau Vivant, a motionless performance in theater. After that, the play started. It was very entertaining, I did not feel boredom. I really appreciated the ballet performance, even if I don’t do ballet. The performance is very creative, easily understood even of you don’t do ballet, yet it is full of humor. After the play, we went to Star City to enjoy the rides. From the play, I learned that speaking or reading is not the only ways to give message to the audiences, even dancing can give these important messages. Even if you don’t do dancing or singing, as long as you put your focus on one thing, you will definitely understand the meaning of it. You don’t have to be anything to understand everything. It’s just a matter of focus and attention. While watching the Sinderela Play, I can really see and understand what the dancers are trying to tell the audiences. For me, it was pretty clear. The moral of this play is you can be everything you want; all you need is faith, never falter, and hold strongly to your beliefs. We should not let anybody stop us from doing what we want. Also, we should not do the things we have to do, but we should do the right…
