William Aquailus 'Dark Prognostic'

I’m finally dying. My name is William Aquailus, former legend and savior of all the world. I am 2489 years old as I write all of this down inside a cave outside of my hometown. I can feel myself dying even as I write this. I’ve been around a long time; too long, in fact. I’ve more memories that I’d like to get rid of then keep, as I’ve seen a goddess die, kingdoms crumble, religions rise and fall, a hundred million men die in vain, and a hundred revolutions. This is my story. The story of how I saved the world… as well as I can recollect it.

I was born unto this world as an angel, the servants of the goddess, Rocquella. Both the angels and Rocquella resided in Heaven, a floating land

She created us angels to help her with the protection of the world, as there was a great evil that constantly tried to destroy it. That evil was known as the Dark Prognostic, a book that contained the secrets to infinite power. However, being in possession of the book caused one to be overcome with dark power. There was supposedly a demon contained within the Dark Prognostic that would possess the owner of the book. Unsurprisingly, the Dark Prognostic was the cause of many wars among any and all …show more content…
During my early years as an angel, I worked on tracking down the Dark Prognostic like a majority of the angels. See, when an angel reached the age of 15, they chose what they wished to pursue as a career. A good majority helped track down the Dark Prognostic, but others chose regular careers (i.e. merchants, teachers, etc.). And while I did help track down the Dark Prognostic, I was also one of the few that got to work in reconnaissance, which meant I was responsible to down to the world to find clues on the Dark Prognostic. We went along investigating, in the hopes that we’d receive a

It’s in our sick and dying bed that we are sadly given no other task but to evaluate all our years of living. The body no longer full of vigor nor fight, the heart heavy form sorrows past; the footsteps of death nocking at the door serve as an earnest call to evaluate and make peace with all we did in life. Suddenly, its time to review the many chronicles that compose our life story. As I look back on my life I am overwhelmed with grief. I grieve not for missed opportunities, God knows I seized every opportune moment. I grieve for the misjudgment of my ambitious endeavors, which will be forever erroneously highlighted and remain an eternal blemish upon my legacy.…

I’m not this self-sacrificing, kind, beautiful, ornately framed picture of perfection that she is. If I was put in her situation, I don’t think I could have. I would be hiding a corner, my head in my hands, trying to comprehend what’s going on, too panic-stricken to do anything. I realized that I wasn’t her, and probably never would be. Then I looked to the angels. I found fragments of myself in them; I looked into their eyes and saw my face staring back at me. I am an angel, if only a different version, a transfer from one reality to the next. That was when I discovered that everyone is an angel. We all have this fabric of lies weaving around us that we want people to believe, and on the inside is an angel begging to be let out. Some people release them into the world, and others have hidden themselves away in a web of deception so thick that they themselves start to believe them, quelling the angel inside them. Fake it ‘til you make it, that’s how it…

The idea of a fallen angel is very prevalent even in today’s time period. Although, a closer reading of the text reveals underlying symbols and themes that link to the historical context of the tale. The first obvious symbol is the man wings. This symbolizes an angel not only to the reader but the character within the story. Angels were more prevalent in the times like the development of civil rights. This reveals a small idea about when the story was written and even what it is written about. “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” was published in 1955 during the civil right’s movement. Hope is the main cause for an angel's arrival, which would remain consistent with the time period because people were praying for acceptance to differences in…

The primary function of the angels is to glorify God, but they also communicate God's message, and they are able to give guidance and instruction, the angels fight our spiritual battles for us, and they minister to the needs of the people, and they also carry out God's judgment. The angels are active today as they have always been, but they are rarely visible to us humans, the angels are in constant battle with Satan and his…

This represents humanity's ever present use of religion to justify their actions, destroying its ideals in the process. They pull and harass it hoping to get something from it, yet when the angel did not provide the correct miracle or a miracle at all, they abandoned their faith and interest in him in favor of a more responsive attraction. This action is equivalent to how man converts to seemingly more rewarding religions when their own does not grant their…

By blending the mundane and repugnant parts of life with the miraculous, the author effectively conveys the narrowness in vision of those who seem to be unaware of their significance in life. In the beginning of the story, the world behaves strangely and supernaturally as it “[has been] sad since Tuesday “the rain [has caused] the collapse of the chicken coop and “the child [has] a temperature all night due to the stench” (177). These incidences of extreme weather together with an unwanted occurrence of a sick child foreshadow a greater surreal element to emerge: the angel – an old man lying with his face down in the mud with enormous wings. From this point, Márquez portrays a miserable picture of civilized society and its cruel nature towards all things different and foreign while ridiculing itself of the moments of compassion: it is originally planned to release the old man “on a raft with fresh water and provisions for three days” and “[leave] him to his fate on the high seas” (177), but once it is profitable from showcasing him, the Old Man is imprisoned in a chicken coop where strangers pelt him with stones and burn him with a branding…

In addition, sending the latter to Rome show his position, his raked in the kingdom of God, the priest is like God first hands on earth to Catholics, but the religious authority never reply to the priest letter and the community concern toward the angel. Also, another character which is quite symbolic too, is the spider woman she had been changed into spider for disobeyed her parents by going to a party. The angel loses his its attractive when she arrived at village for the carnival attractions; through her story we see how the community reaction and perception are constructed about lying and how they really are, because a soon as she arrived they all forget about old man, who they claimed was angel and ask him to heal their…

The angel just seemed like a burden to Elisenda and Pelayo, they didn’t think about what it meant. They put the angel in the chicken coop instead of treating him like a guest. They didn’t know what to do with the angel, so they decided not to think about it, until later when Elisenda had the idea to make money of the angel. I think that’s what people do in life, if we don’t know what something is, we ignore it or give it a stereotype. The people in the story also wanted to use the angel, “…he should be promoted to the rank of five-star general in order to win all wars.”…

The topic that I choose to write about is the Guardian Angel. Guardian Angels are thought to be spiritual beings that are assigned from the good Lord to help people here on Earth in various ways. Whether there is one angel per person, one angel for several people or several angels for one individual, it could go either way. In fact, whether you believe in them or not, believers insist is that you do have a guardian angel. The guardian angel is a unique “spiritual being” that I find very interesting to talk about and real in every way and this is based on facts that happened to other individuals and from my own personal experience. A guardian angel in my opinion is a protector that guards you or a group of people from evil and can also guide you through the toughest of times.…

These were the words spoken by Angel in Chapter Thirty-Five after Tess implores him that she was a child when evil wrecked upon her innocent being. She beseeched him that she used to be unknowing of men and had little clue about their wicked ways. If fate was responsible for her crime, why then did Angel have problems reconciling with the concept of Tess not being as ‘pure’ as he had assumed? Why, finally after forgiving her, could he not see her as the woman he gave his heart to? Did Angel have a different notion of fate, or did he never truly love Tess as he claimed? Or was it Fate yet again, cruelly hurling Tess down the path towards her doom?…
