What willpower means to me is when you hold yourself back from doing something you may regret in the future. Having willpower is the ability to recognize when you’re about to do something that is inconsistent with your culture, values, and literally put on the I won’t brakes on and say I will. A time I used willpower when I tried to lose some weight. See I’m the kind of person who likes my junk food. I had to have the willpower not to eat those and try to eat healthier snacks. It did work I lost a few pounds. Although I am the kind of person that hid my feelings with food, by not eating those foods it made me have to talk through more of my problems. I was very proud of myself, because it took a lot of willpower. I felt so good though once I was done.…

You must have the strong will to “want” to accomplish whatever goal you set for yourself. For example, when I was playing the game of chicken and always lost in the beginning, this would be the obstacle that stood in front of me, but I overcame this by not saving any strokes to get back. I remember a time when I was saying, “You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.” Another example of how I overcame my obstacles is obvious. My biggest obstacle that I faced was when the company Gattaca only allowed “pure breeds,” if you will, to be co-workers and be able to go up to space, which was my dream. I surpassed that rule by impersonating my good friend Jerome. A quote he said to me once was, “I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body - you lent me your dream.” Jerome was immobilized from waist down when he was hit by the bus, which let me impersonate him and fulfilling my dreams of going to space. All my hard work is finally paying off. My big goal that I have been longing to achieve is in sight. Not many people get to live my dream, but it took a lot of planning and thought for me to sneak my way into Gattaca. My next point will be my final thought about human…

First, setting goals will help you focus on where you need to get to, instead of fooling around when you shouldn’t. I once read that having no goals to aim for is like shooting an arrow with no target, and it’s true. What are you aiming for in life if you have no dreams to reach? By setting goals, it will motivate you to keep going. Whether it’s for your education or in your career, you will want to keep pushing yourself so that you can become the best that you can. As Dr. O. Carl Simonton once said “Goals are simply tools to focus your energy in positive directions, these can be changed as your priorities change, new ones added, and others dropped.”…
