Wilson's Creek: A Short Story
I’m not much of an intense type of guy and I don’t really get into much that’s too crazy for someone my age. This isn’t something that’s very known about me but I thought it’d be a good story to tell either way. The story takes place when I’m around ten years old in Wilson's Creek. At this time I was with my dad and I was extremely small and didn’t pay a lot of attention. I was with my dad fishing on a Friday during the summer at about 4:30 PM. The day was hot and bugs were everywhere around us. I had on jeans, a t-shirt and a vest to store any fish we catch. My dad had on the same, but i had a smaller fishing rod than he did because I was small and not really ready for a fishing rod like my dad’s. We went out to fish and started at a bridge that was very rundown and poorly maintained and didn’t catch much because of the current and rocks around where we were. We got one fish to bite but it fell off whenever we pulled it up out of the water. We then decided to move to another spot over by the cliffs and ridges because no one was there to get in the way. For a while we didn’t go anywhere too crazy and nowhere that took too much effort to get to. Little did I know was that it’d all change quicker than I thought.. After a while of not catching what we were looking for, my dad decided …show more content…
It held us both and he pulled me back up very easily and he pulled himself up after. When it was all done I had cut a hole in my leg that left a scar that’s still on my leg to this day. It was an easy wound to fix with a small amount of alcohol and bandages. I ended up being fine and we continued to fish for a while before actually leaving to go home. My dad and I both ended up forgetting about it after a few weeks and I healed very quickly. To this day I still have the scar on my leg and it reminds me everyday of a very horrifying day in my

The purpose of Sgt. John Wilson is to provide information to the reader in the sense of an autobiography. Lois Simmie accomplishes Excellency in foreshadowing the event in the prologue. But not completely throwing it away until much further in the book. If this were a novel, the sequence of events would change completely, but it’s not, this is an autobiography, the order of events do not have to be precise to be followed 100% all the way through. Portrayal of Canadian history is a big deal here. This is not something to tread lightly on. Also the purpose of the autobiography is to showcase this insane psychopathic male actions that take place in mainly Saskatchewan but also Scotland and British Columbia. Nevertheless another huge purpose of the author is to satisfy the reader (viewer’s) brain thirst. Lois manages a remarkable undertaking with changing the old language into a modern work of art.…

It was a beautiful July day in 2014 when my family and I were camping at Holland Lake with our family friends Kinsey and Lauren. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sun reflected off the bluish greenish water. The air smelt of smoke and fresh trees. Early in the morning when the campground is quiet you can even hear the waterfall. Holland Lake is a very busy lake with boaters, tubers, water skiers, ect. Since that day was so nice there were a bunch of boats on the lake the waves were huge. Kinsey, Lauren, Alex and I were all pretty close in age but Alex and Lauren were taller so they get the outside of the tube. When we all finished breakfast I changed into my swimming suit speedy fast and rode my bike as fast as I could to my cousins camper, Alex. I had to wait what felt like 5 hours for her to change. Once she was done we waited for Kinsey and Lauren at ¨The Beach¨. Alex and I killed time by talking about how much fun we were going to have…

Dr. Boggs sets all the equipment up so that we are ready to try the first activity which was wake surfing. The main activity my teammates wanted to do was wake surfing. None of them, including myself, had ever wake-surfed before, but it was one opportunity we could not miss out on. Cole, jumping out of his chair, could not wait to go first. He hopped out of the boat and swam towards the surf board. We all watched as Cole was about to be the first person on our team who would wake surf. “Now Cole there are a couple of steps that you have to do in order to get your board up and surf. First, you must lean back as far as you can with your left foot on the blue line and your right foot on the red line of the board. Next, when the boat starts to move, you have to press down on your right foot while tightly holding the rope with you left hand in front and right hand in the back. Finally, you will jerk forward and began to start surfing, but you have to stay low and on balance.”-Dr. Boggs. Cole was now ready to wake surf. He did all the steps Dr. Boggs had explained to him and he managed to fall face flat into the water. My teammates laughed as he tried to swim back to the board, but all that made me want to do was try it out for myself. Cole fell multiple times and was unable to stay on the board for more than ten…

Many people will push themselves to their absolute limit just to be able to save themselves. In “Zombieland”, Talllhsitty he had to risk his life by going to a game at the carnival they were at and lock themselves in it to cause a distraction so Columbus could save Wichita and Little Rock from being infected by the zombies. In a way, Farquhar’s situation is similar in the way that he had to risk his life in his fantasy land by swimming away and walking home all night to his house to keep himself from being killed. Farquhar was being shot at while he was swimming and had already been injured from being hanged. In both situations though, they had to push themselves to save them from dying. In “An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge” (AOAOCB) Bierce…

Some years it's really tough to catch something, then there was like the summer of ‘07. We caught over 300 fish in that one week. Fishing is really special to me, my grandpa was basically a father figure to me and we bonded through it. He would take me every weekend and fish until the sun goes down. Now that he is gone, I find in myself to keep fishing, since it has become a true love and passion. My uncle has filled that father figure role in my life these past couple years. Shows up to my golf meets, supports my decisions in life, pushes me to be better every day. He is a very careful kind of guy. He is always prepared for the worst, even when we are our fishing in the boat. As the week goes on it becomes more challenging to not sleep in for an extra hour. We really didn't get out onto the water until nine that morning. There was still some fog out on the water, but it was good enough to drive across the lake. See, from where we put in the boat is around twenty miles from where we actually fish. This was always a problem because this would eat up all the gas in the tank. Later that day, it was around four. It takes around 1 hour to drive the boat back to the ramp. I'm starting to pack…

I remember when I was young and I had to decide what color of popsicle I wanted and it seemed like it would be the hardest decision I’d have to make. These type of decisions get easier as I became older, but I remember when I was young and had to make a pretty fast and life saving decision. My childhood best friend Ethan and I thought it was the perfect day to go out for a cooling dip at Lookout Lake. We got on our Bermuda trunks and raced out of my beat down, old, white ranch house, all the way across our small town to the docks. The best place to hang out was at our hometown lake; the cooling freshness of the water and how the trees slightly glossed over us as we swam kept us from the blazing sun. The beautiful oranges and blues of the…

After graduation, my parents shipped me off to college with nothing but a bag of clothes. They made me leave Dustin and my horse Kermit behind. I didn’t know what to do. I finished my six years of college and saved up some money from a part-time job, then took off to Tennessee. When I arrived in Tennessee, I was so lost. I didn’t know anyone and was lonely, so I called up those friends I hadn’t seen in years and they lived in Tennessee! After talking for a bit they knew where I was, picked me up, and took me to their cabin in Gatlinburg. While in Tennessee I into a guy from high School, his name was Travis. Some people wonder why my dad has a 3-inch scar on his back, I tell them it is a very interesting story. I got home from school one chilly, winter day. My brothers and I went in and my mom said, “say hi to your dad. he hurt his back at work so, be nice.” We said, “what happened?!” He was working at Macos and he had an accident. He was lifting a heavy box of tiles and he pulled something in his back. We went to Bellin Health there was a lot of people there and I felt a little bit nervous about what was wrong with his back. My mom was worried about my dad when he got home. So she decided that we were going to bellenheath. They sent him home with medication. When he got home he just laid in bed and watch TV then a couple of days later…

As my eyes glazed over the crystal clear lake, only one thing came to my mind. The fishing was going to be awesome. After getting to the secluded Lake of the Woods, located in Ontario, Canada, we wasted no time in getting our poles in the water in hopes of catching the big wahnee. I felt enormously optimistic about the fishing trip, since I knew all of the tricks of the trade about fishing. We rushed down to the shoreline and threw our poles in. After my eight family members and I got tired of reputedly throwing lures from the shore and catching nothing, we decided to venture out on the resort lodes boats. There was only about an hour left of sunlight that day, so we all piled into the boats and raced off to catch the big one. After casting into the weeds for about 30 minutes, I got lucky and snagged a pike. The fish probably just incoherently ran into my lure, but I was excited because it was the first pike I have ever caught or seen in real life. We threw the monster into the live well and headed back to the lodge before it got darker out. Upon arriving at the lodge we arrogantly showed off our massive catch to the guides. After the guide examined the fish for a split second, he said in his Canadian accent, "awe, he is just a baby," and threw him back into the water. As I looked up at the guide, I noticed that this act didn't faze him at all. I thought to myself- my god, how big are the fish up in this neck of the woods. But, my heart was crushed, for after putting all my blood, sweat, and tears into catching and hauling the fish back to the lodge. I knew tomorrow was going to be better.…
