Indeed, Winston has many heroic qualities that definetly outweight his anti-hero characteristics.
In conclusion, Winston Smith is an atypical hero as he lacks many of the common characteristics that heroes share but tha fact thathe is driven by noble intentions and ideas and perpetrates them in the way he believes to be more effective to his cause. Because in the end of the book Winston is broken by the Political Party and the Big Brother through mental conditioning and torture this represents perfectly Winston’s heroic side as the big brother decided to punish him as he was a threat to their
