I think that this particular verse ( and throughout this chapter) speaks of the limited time we as people have and explores how fast a moment fades away. I think that this speaks to my personal life- since I’m so plan oriented it is hard for me to enjoy what is happening around me and I tend to take little advances and achievements for granted. This reminds me to stay somewhat in the moment as I move toward other goals and plans. Another quality of this verse that I think is important is the description of time used the use of the phrase “fast sealed” creates a image of life as
a concealed substance that can be contained while normally we as people view our lives as this massive indescribable occurrence that cannot be packaged.
On a larger scale, Wisdom of Solomon 2:5 redefines the meaning of life and the importance of being in the moment in time. Today more people than ever claim that this is the end times and are preparing for the fall of the earth globally as we know it. The lifestyles of those preparing for the end and shows that fear of the end of the world and in essence time itself, in today's world and culture were not encouraged to live in the moment, but told to plan ahead more and more. The way that life is lived today basically contrasts this scripture completely. Another major observation of this scripture I found interesting is the statement “ no man cometh again” because in modern terms we use the phrase “ YOLO (you only live once)” this parallel between past and present shows that while we know the importance of time we still aren’t valuing it. As well as, shows that we have the same issues that those in the bible experienced connecting us more as human.
