but he ignored her then the woman leapt into the water and was swimming to retrieve the doll. "shame on you!" i said. When she immerged i was furious. “You must be daft” i hissed “to jump in and ruin those clothes”. The girl responded "Bother the clothes! They'll dry. Besides, I have plenty of others." This made me even more furious almost to the point of shock. This woman had the audacity to make a comment like that. Luckily Nat snapped on her and said
"Then you might have a thought for somebody else!" snapped Nat, slapping the water out of his dripping breeches. "These are the only clothes I have."
After that we confronted her about how she could swim.
Her eyes widened. "Swim?" she echoed scornfully. "Why my grandfather taught me to swim as soon as I could walk."
I sat there wondering what kind of witch she was and how awful this young woman was. I looked over in horror as my daughter was staring at the girl like she was a god. As we were approaching the ship the woman huddled under her fancy red cloak, and i sat just waiting to get away from this witch.
