Effective counselors are passionate and irrepressible in the walk with God. McMinn also cautions counselors on the limitations and challenges they will face in counseling. Each section discussed one core foundation. McMinn not only discussed these topics in depth, he also related them to the healing map by answering these three questions; Will this help establish a healthy sense of self? Will this help establish a healthy sense of need? And will this help establish a healing relationship? (McMinn, 2011).…

Conclusion Mentor programs are created in various types of institutions including educational programs, corporations, and the building trades. Although the programs may all have the common goal of helping mentees succeed, the pieces of each program are unique in order to meet the needs of those served. All of these programs have the ability to have positive effects on both the mentors and mentees involved. When students begin their high school careers, they often think that the feelings of isolation they experience are unique to themselves.…

I would like to pursue counseling as my career and become a successful leader in the field. I have always had a passion to assist people in emotional distress. As a qualified professional in the counseling field, I would be able to identify their problems as well as offer them the most appropriate solutions that may help them deal with their situations. However, working as a professional counselor requires that I possess the relevant skills and knowledge that would enable me to offer quality services in which I think that I can obtain the skills at Capella University. As a professional clinical counselor, I would have to deal with clients with different problems, so my role would entail listening to their problems, preventing further damage/harm as well as relieving them from the psychologically based dysfunctions (emotional, nervous, mental and behavioral dysfunctions). In addition, I would have to create conducive environment for them, which promote their personal development and well-being. Consequently, I would therefore have to provide both vocational and educational planning for the patients. To achieve this effectively, I would require training that would enable me to administer and interpret various psychological personality tests as well as the standardized tests of memory, functioning, and intelligence. A clinical graduate degree in counseling at Capella University would enable me to get the necessary licensure that will grant me the authority to practice legitimately. My interest in counseling developed early when I was still in high school, where I offered fellow students advice on their personal problems; with time, my reputation as a great advisor grew and most students and roommates at the school often consulted me for advice. This interest developed further when I had an opportunity to offer…

The researchers found that these people who were transitioning from childhood into adulthood had more positive outlooks after they believed that they would be able to regain control of their lives again with the help of a mentor. Also, mentors who were willing to develop a long-lasting relationship contributed substantially to these improved mindsets of mentees who wanted to recover from their negative past experiences (Erickson). Evidently, the mentees found it a whole lot easier to recover from an initially rough life and grow as adolescents alongside a mentor because they didn’t think they would be able to alone. With someone to push them forward, these mentees were more ready than ever before to have faith in the process of turning their lives around. Once these adolescents were ready to let their mentors aid them, they were able to shift their lives in an opposite and more positive direction than…

I first became interested in a career in psychology ever since I was a child. Psychology field has many different opportunities to explore. When I first started college, I did not know what field I wanted to get into. After a few years in college, I realized that I wanted to go into Clinical mental health working with adolescents. During my years in college, I was accepted to do an internship at Naomi Family Center. While I was there I worked with many different specialists in the field of psychology. The most interesting part of the whole experience was working with the therapist who worked with adolescent children. Naomi family specialized in helping women and their children overcome trauma, sexual abuse, sexual assault and chemical dependency.…
