Mozart's last year was a time of great productivity. He composed a great deal of music, including some of his most admired works: the opera Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), his final piano concerto, the clarinet concerto in A major, a series of string quintets, the motet Ave Verum Corpus, and the unfinished Requiem mass. Mozart's financial situation then began to improve, he no longer borrowed money and he began paying off his debts. His recently written works were bringing Mozart a lot of success. Mozart fell ill while he was in Prague for the premiere of his opera La clemenza di Tito on September 6, 1791. However, he continued performing and he conducted the premiere of his final opera The Magic Flute on September 30, 1791which was very successful. On November 20, 1791 Mozart’s health deteriorated and he became bedridden, suffering from swelling, pain, and vomiting. Mozart was nursed in his final illness by his wife and her sister Sophie. He was occupied with the task of finishing his Requiem mass but unfortunately it was left unfinished at the time of his death.
