Wolfgang Mozart Accomplishments

The Baroque era was a very interesting time, where people were questioning many things. People were starting to discover their own styles and express those styles in their artwork and music. Johann Chrysostom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or better known as Wolfgang Mozart was born on January 27th, 1756 only six years into the Baroque era. He was born in Salzburg, Austria to Leopold Mozart, a court musician and Anna Marie Mozart. He was one of two children out of seven that survived. At the young age of six Mozart could play the harpsicord and violin. He also had magnificent abilities to read music perfectly upon first sight. Mozart was considered a child prodigy for his abilities to improvise fugues and write minuets at this young age. At the ripe age of eight, he wrote a symphony; then at eleven, an oratorio. To top it off at twelve, he composes an opera (Kamien, 2015, p. 176). Mozart wrote in all the music genres of his time, this was unlike any other composure. What made him even more impressive, was the fact that he excelled in all of them. Mozart was on a constant tour from the age of six to fifteen as his father was very enthusiastic to show Mozart’s talents off; being a musician himself. Mozart composed several piano pieces in a variety of works. These pieces were intended to be played my himself or his sister. Mozart wrote twenty piano pieces between the years of 1782 and 1786. He continued writing many other types of music including; violin sonatas, string duets and trios, string quartets, piano trios, chamber music, serenades, divertimenti’s, and opera’s.
