By way of example, in the show, Roseanne Jackie is both physically and mentally abused by the guy she loves. Correspondingly, the news swarms its viewers with extreme cases regarding domestic violence with women as the victim. Furthermore, a website that primarily focuses on domestic violence states that “ Although both men and women can be abused, most victims are women” (Thawley). Not only are most women often in danger when being in relationships, but every nine seconds a woman is assaulted or beaten by their partner (Statistics). On the other hand, it is very hard to find cases and facts about men victims in domestic violence relationships, “because men are told to, ‘suck it up”’ (anonymous). Society has enforced machoistic beliefs upon men causing them to show no fear and or weakness and that’s why many cases of domestic violence regarding men are faulty and or unproven.
