There is still staff and inmates who do not feel women should be working in male prisons. This makes us greater targets for bringing in contraband, establishing personal relationships, and many other forms of intolerable disrespect and misconduct. We must work extra hard to convey a strong, firm and unwavering disciplinary tactic, yet be professional and reasonably approachable." Women need to gain the respect of both inmates and fellow staff.” This proves that it is more difficult for women to be accepted in the prison system just based on their gender alone. After showing their self-worth and proving themselves women still have difficulty working in men's prisons. That is never going to change because of the fact that most of these inmates will never see a women again. Overall women tend to be more communicative, collaborative, inclusive, and skilled with people, particularly in terms of being patient, empathetic, and nurturing. They are also usually desirous of information and interested in intricate relationships, this makes the female inmates willing to be more open with these officers. Even though at the end of the day inmates are always going to think that these female correctional officers are weaker than everyone
