Women In The Revolutionary War

The document suggests that the women played a very big role in the revolutionary war. According to the document “the woman of America manifested a firm resolution to contribute”. This shows that they believe that the woman had a huge role in the revolutionary war. The roles played by women and other minority groups during the Revolutionary War were mostly working the house like doing chores and such. “Women at Valley Forge gathered wood, cooked, washed clothes, and nursed the sick, and the injured”(Discovery Education). This shows that the women did things to impact the war. “When their survival at home was threatened by dwindling supplies or enemy advances, women had no choice but to follow the army. Gathering up children, pets, and valuables,
they traveled on foot to winter encampments”(Discovery Education). This shows that the women gathered the kids and families, which helped the war. The people in these groups had a very big outcome on the war “Many enslaved laborers continued to support their Patriot owners. Some helped defend their homes. Others took their owners’ places as soldiers. An African American enslaved woman planned and carried out her owner”(Discovery Education). This shows that the slaves helped defend their homes which helped the war. “In general, then, the war did not change the conditions faced by free or enslaved African Americans. However, it did add some strength to the abolition movement and the ideal that America could eventually become a land where all people were free”(Discovery Education). This shows that the slaves had a very big role in the Revolutionary war.
