Reading about Jessica Pabron’s artwork, her piece called The psychedelic, feminine work made me think of Women Investing in Women.
In the article, Pabron expresses how the artwork represented in the equality of gender. She quotes. “I believe that women and men should walk together; men should not step all over women”. The artist further discusses the importance for feminism to take an active part in politics, activated and protests. This stood out to me because working closely with one of the founders, Anu Bhardwaj, of WIIW she had told me something similar. Bhardwaj had many years of experience working in the corporate world. During those years, she was oppressed by her co-workers because of her gender and race (she is Indian). After many unsuccessful years of trying to break her glass ceiling, she felt the need to connect with other women around the world that experienced the same issue. After teaming up with a group of women that had experienced similar problems, WIIW was
created.
