“Beowulf” is a poem that was written during the Anglo- Saxon Era. Back in that time men were the centerpiece while women were more discrete. Women are often hostess for men and/or Kings, givers of gifts, or peace weavers. The only main female characters in “Beowulf” were Wealhtheow, Hygd, and Grendel’s Mother. None of the three women were heroines in the poem to me because there wasn’t much detail about them. Grendel’s mother was the only female character who had a detailed description of her character. The other female characters only came in the poem at the beginning or near the end. Wealhtheow is Hrothgar’s queen and Hygd is King Hygelac queen. Mentioned in the introductory paragraph females during the Anglo-Saxon
