In today’s society, women are more often than not viewed as being inferior to men in certain areas and cultures of the world. However, when comparing different societies, it is shown that this is not always a true statement. To prove this, I have compared the lives and roles of women in three different ancient societies. The first ancient society I chose was Egypt. Women in ancient Egypt were seen as being inferior in many different ways; however, on many different occasions, women were given the opportunity to actually rise up to power. It was usually always rare for a woman to have the slightest say in how things would work; however, some ancient societies were willing to give women the opportunity to participate and represent within the political atmosphere. A great example of women having a say in the political world would be the ancient Egyptian society. In the ancient Egyptian society, women were given an extraordinary amount of economic power. Another great thing about this society is that these women also had many rights within the Egyptian legal system. These same women were also allowed to testify within the Egyptian court systems. Family life in Egypt at this time consisted of an inactive lifestyle; however, the women that were married in ancient Egypt were able to play a major part in the economic stand point of their own society. The same goes for the women of ancient China. Women in ancient China were more often than not told that they could not be trusted in being brought into the political aspect of the Chinese society because of concubines. These same women were also known to be viewed as not being able to take any form of interest in what would be known as the view of the larger good for their own
