The most destructive war recorded in the United States history had some positive effects on the United States History. World war II positively affected women’s rights, race, and the economy. Before World War II started women weren’t allowed to work in factories or even work in general. But, when World war II started and men went off to war, women were allowed to have a job and take over the ‘men’s jobs’. By the end of World War II one third of the work force consisted of women. World war II also affected racial problems in the United States; African Americans were allowed to be in the war but in segregated sections. There was a protest called and the president took away the segregation in the
military. World war II brought the United States out of the Great Depression, when the U.S joined the war it brought them out of the Great Depression since they started producing more goods for the war. During World War II there was many social changes among women, African-Americans, and Mexican Americans, the founded new opportunities in work industry. During WW2 it was the first time in history that married women outnumbered single women in the work force. Rosie the Riveter changed how women were viewed and how women’s behavior should be. Almost 400,000 Mexican Americans served in the armed forces during the war. However, World War II affected the Japanese Americans in a bad way. Japanese-Americans were sent to internment camps, which they had to build their own housing for, and they were forced to move out of their homes and sell most of their belongings. The United States was the only country that seemed to benefit from World War II in the long run. Japan was in ruins from the two atomic bombs, Little boy and Fatman, that the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. France was left to recover from the effects of Nazi occupation. The Russian people had suffered immeasurably during the war, and western Russia was devastated by the land warfare which was primarily on Russian territory. England and France no longer held a status of power comparable either to the United States or the Soviet Union.
