In the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio, we, the readers, see parts of August’s life and how it changes through the eyes of his two friends. Summer, one of August’s friends, discusses how people always ask her why she hangs out with “the freak” so much, to which she replies, “[b]ecause he's a nice kid!”(Palacio 119).
