The New Jersey Democratic Party wanted a honest leader like Wilson to convince voters that the recent scandals involving Democrats did not tarnish the government. Luckily most voters in NJ voted for Wilson so he won and saved the NJ Democratic Party. When Wilson’s career as a governor of New Jersey ended, he ran against William H. Taft in the election of 1912 and was the president in 1913.
Some think that Wilson was a Republican but actually he belonged to the Democratic Party. He had Thomas R. Marshall throughout his two terms as president of the United States. Did you know that Wilson was the second president to run a consecutive term since Andrew Jackson in 1832? He served from 1913-1917 and from 1917-1921. In his cabinet he had a total of 22 members including WIlson.
One of very important acts that got published during his presidency is the Federal Reserve Act aka the Currency Bill in 1913.

prize for his efforts to secure a lasting peace after the Great War.
People before and now still have had to pay taxes.
Wilson in 1913 on his first year of Presidency held a meeting with Congress and confronted the tariff question, and brought special attention to the matter by deciding to appear in person before Congress to make his appeal. Many say that the joint meeting was a sensational meeting in which every single seat in the House chamber was taken with many Newspapers on the wild. Wilson made it clear in that meeting that tariff changes were needed. The Act was passed in the House with 281 - 139 with a 142 lead on May 18, 2013. This Act is known as the Revenue Act of 1913, Tariff Act, Underwood Tariff, and the Underwood Tariff Act. This Tax act was a major triumph for Wilson. This act also provided the establishing of the federal income tax to compensate for the loss of revenue from the reduction of tariff
duties. Wilson experienced a stroke during his presidency which left him paralyzed on one side of his body. Surprisingly after his presidential career ended he rarely appeared in Public and didn’t even attend Warren G. Harding’s inauguration. After living in the White House for 8 years Wilson went back to his old home at 2340 S Street in Washington, DC. Although Wilson was partially paralyzed and blind he still dreamt about running for a third term in 1924 but didn’t.
Woodrow Wilson’s most lasting political philosophy was his view of how democracy should be around the world. Throughout his life he believed is a belief that the president should provide leadership for Congress, a belief that the president should appeal over the heads of legislatures to the sovereign people, and a belief in the moral essence of politics.”
If I had to say how Woodrow Wilson’s presidency and leadership of America was I would say good. One of the many reasons why I say that Woodrow Wilson was one of the top presidents is because he led America through a major war, came up with a statement of principles that is still used in many various situations in America. When Wilson got the United States of America in World War 1 it was for the better and worse. Worse was meaning by that several American troops to fight and die. Since World War 1 ended with a tie, it made Germany feel a strong desire for revenge and so Germany, Italy and Japan were against Britain, France, and Australia. Eatheir way America has Woodrow Wilson in the top 10 presidents of the United States of America so fare. The strong key point that gives everyone a positivity towards Wilson is that he created the “Fourteen Points”.
Nowadays we are learning that racism is bad and what the people did in the United States was not good, but for Wilson he approved of it and did racism himself. In fact, college students at Princeton University protested to have Wilson’s name and image removed from the campus because of his racism. A big part of America blames the early 20th-century presidents like Wilson who stood by as African Americans lost their rights and privileges.
Sadly on February 3, 1924 at the Wilson house in Washington DC he passed away on his bed. He lived up to the age of 67 from 1856 - 1924. He died quietly in his bed at home unable to speak nor move. Wilson’s cause of death was stroke, which he did have earlier as well during his tour in which he canceled. Wilson’s second wife Edith Wilson blamed Republican opponents in Congress for her husband’s stroke. Throughout Wilson’s life he has inspired many individuals and basically has shaped much of the foreign policy. He has changed the foreign policy from small to international. Woodrow Wilson lived a good life with many ups and downs. He was truly one of the best presidents ever lived.
