Wookie: An Interview With A Homeless Soldier

In 2009, our family was a part of the subprime mortgage crisis I temporarily lived with my Aunt. A few times I was contacted through the school to check on my well-being, and was offered school supplies and other aid. It was a stressful time, I appreciated that the community reached out to my family by the end of the year my family was reunited.
For the last two years, I’ve worked at Subway on Sunset. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet Wookie, a homeless veteran, who is comfortable telling his experiences in the military. After returning from the war he hasn’t been comfortable living within walls. While on my shift, if I have the opportunity I try to give Wookie my free sandwich for the day in hopes that he have a nutritious
