I learned to navigate my way through the new classroom. I already understood how to work Riverpoint Writer and the basics about Phoenix, but now I have learned how to work my way through the new interactive syllabus and discussions.…
Sequence: When I use sequential pattern on a use first basis I feel most comfortable, knowing that if I follow everything step-by-step makes completing assignments from beginning to end without interruption go smoother. Using sequential pattern in my household makes things easier, because you find myself seeking order and consistency, even when I'm not trying to. Now, that I've learned about sequence learning I notice it at work more often, with my desk. Everything has to be tidy and organised, if not I feel frustrated until I get it how I want it. I found out that I tend to do well when I know I am depended on to complete the task at hand.…
If you feel you learned nothing useful or if your personal research process hasn’t changed, tell me that, but, as above, back up all your points with specific details about what was not useful. Along the same lines, what would make this course more meaningful and practical for you?…
Sequence: Sequence is something I did not realize that I use on a daily basis and how important it is to my daily life. When at work I would be lost and confused with out my daily checklist that I have set up to start my day. I tried to step out of my normal daily routine and checklist and became frustrated with the start of my day and was lost for most of the day. I can understand how this is a use as needed as I do not like to follow directions for a task. I sometimes feel that my idea or my schedule is better for a issue or given task. “What do you mean I have to follow these directions?” (Intentional Learning for College Success Page 82 Table 2.1: Sequence Pattern) Is something I ask myself on many different tasks and assignments, "I can do this my way and still get the job done.”…
How I learn as a learner may differ from how another student may learn. In taking the Learning Connections Inventory Assessment my scores are as follows: Sequence 31, Precision 34, Technical Reasoning 18 and Confluence 19. In the sequence pattern I find myself often making sure things are organized and in order. With precision I ensure that everything that I touch is on point and precise with no mistakes. In using technical reasoning I try to avoid it because assembling and building my own projects tend to be a great challenge for me. Lastly, confluence is a difficult challenge for me because I have a fear of taking risks because at times they may put you in an upsetting situation.…
As stated before I am more enlightened since the first week of this class. To be honest I thought that I would not learn anything form this course. I am excited to say I thought poorly on the matter of what I thought I knew. Learning to optimize my scheduling for not only myself and my family has greatly made my life a lot easier to manage. What also helps knowing the type of learner I am so I can use the tactics of an visual learner to help me excel in my courses to come.…
This classes teaches you how to be successful in college and ways to do that. I've learned so many strategies from the On Course textbook. I was lacking in motivation, so I tried the formula for motivation and found my motivation level to be lower than I would like it to be. My value on my education was a 5. My expectation on my education to be a 5. And my motivation was a 25 which was very low. To improve my score and try to make it increase I set goals using DAPPS which is dating my goals, making them achievable, positive and personal, and specific. I also created my life plan. The life plan made me realize my dreams as a student and what my short term goals were. Setting goals using DAPPS really encouraged me and made me want to accomplish them. Dating my goals made it feel like a challenge and that made me want to go for it more. Achievable made me think that I can do this and that there's no way that I can't. A positive goal was easy for me to think of. Lastley, being specific made me visualize what the outcome of my goal will look like. Using the DAPPS made my motivation…
My unique combination of Learning Patterns benefits me in lots of ways. I am able to read any directions, ask for clarity where it is needed, and complete the task at hand, every time. While taking this course, I always read over the chapter before I started the course week, I set alarms using my cell phone to…
Precision learning pattern I will use on an as needed basis. I tend to take lots of detailed notes. I am also a list maker and always ask questions to help me better understand a subject. If I don’t understand a subject then I research extensively about it.…
My views of learning have changed as a result of this class by understanding learning patterns, what they are, how to use them, and how I can implement them. By utilizing the LCI, I can better take in the world around me, make sense of it, and respond appropriately. Taking the LCI and getting my scores for Sequence, Precise, Technical Reasoning, and Confluence, I can see if I use each one as “Use First”, “As Needed”, and “avoid”. This is all very new to me and has certainly helped me become a better learner.…
This class has taught me a lot about myself as a learner and what works best for me when it comes to how I study. EXP 105 has given me the ability to know how I learn and what my strengths are in my learning process. It has shown me that not everyone learns the same way by just reading and responding. That everyone is learning behavior is as unique as one’s fingerprint.…

I have chosen my fiance as the person to analize in this discussion. My fiance and I don't always understand things the same way. He tends to learn better hands on where I learn better by reading and following directions. He usually jumps into a project without all the information needed to complette it. I'm usually still reading the directions while he's almost finished putting it together or taking it apart. I sometimes find this hillarious and other times it scares me and frustrates me. His use first is Technical Reasoning. I believe that another use first for him is Precision. He likes to know that he is right and he enjoys researching information to certain things that he is interested in online. He will sometimes spend hours online reading to ensure he has covered every angle possible dealing with whatever topic he is researching at that time. He leaves no room for doubt or mistake in his research. I too use Precision as one of my use first learning patterns and he amazes me with the way he goes in depth searching for information. I don't always have the patience to cross reference and research as much as he does. I don't think he avoids any of his learning patterns. I honestly believe that he uses them all. He has a very creative mind and this would be where his confluence comes into play. He strives to do things in ways that nobody has ever done them before. I too take pride in doing things differently than others do. My opinion would be that he doesn't use sequence as much as the others though. His researching is on certain things but he often can't find the words to describe what he may be trying to explain. He seeks knowledge in other areas rather than words and meaning (grammer). This is where our personalities coincide. When he is at a loss for words or can't spell it or isn't sure what something means I come in with my knowledge in that department. It makes me feel good to be needed even if it's only with something as small as spelling a word.…
