Working Class Reflection
I agreed with you because not only the working class not only had to deal with the horrible working conditions and poor lifestyle, but also with their own government who did not care in the abuses until they revolt. This shows us that their leaders did not know how to control its own country and

Firstly when immigrants were coming over they had no food, no home, no job so they would work for very low wages;that does not mean that the conditions in the workplace have to be unsafe and people like Andrew carnegie he was just exploiting the immigrants by making them work for seven-days a week , and daily work 12 or more hours. They were also not entitled to vacation, sick leave, unemployment compensation, or reimbursement for injuries suffered on the job. Lastly it was not only adult workers in the factories children as young as 4 would be working in these factories “an average of 675…

Document A: George Henry Evans wrote the document to represent the working class men. In the document, Evans argues that the working class should have the same rights as other classes. He even quotes a part of the Declaration of Independence to support his argument. At the time, the democrats deprived the working class men from their rights, and they abused the working class men instead of protecting their rights. It was during the first year of Jackson’s presidency that the working class organized their own party to defend their rights. When Jackson became president, he attempted to protect the working class men’s equality of economic opportunity. The working class even received the right to vote. Jackson became known as a true democrat and a protector of the common man because of all he had done for the working class. This document is an example of political democracy.…

The biggest plight against the farm workers was that they were taken advantage of from all angles. They continually endured irregular work, terrible working conditions, inhuman living conditions and absurdly low wages. The growers thought that they could continue the status quo because the migrant worker, specifically the Mexican and Filipino, were thought of as passive and unintelligent.1 The farm workers wanted to eradicate their constant subjection to this type of environment so they were forced into a revolutionary stance for that to change.2 They unionized along with other migrant workers in Southern California into the Workers Union of the Imperial Valley.3 How the farm workers thought about themselves change. They went from accepting the horrible conditions; to seeking a life more desirable and this is what would crack the door for the Communist Party to eventually be able to provide the necessary support for the unionizing movement.…

I personally believe after reading the allegations the workers had written, they in every way had the right to strike. Such conditions were not meant to be able to live off of. Events like these are why we have our modern day government and economy, to prevent similar situations. In every way, I would side with the workers. This is just another example of big monopolies trying to get wealthier, while disregarding any workers’ well…

In the article “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work”, Jean Anyon writes about what she saw in five different Elementary schools in New Jersey from classes in fifth grade that she visited. The first two Elementary schools were working class schools in these two schools, students were told what and how to do work without any individual freedom. Teachers would usually shout at the students, and would have to ask to leave the room by making a pass. The type of student that would attend this school would come from a blue collar family. Moreover, the third school was a middle class school that encouraged students to get the subject to the point were they could remember it and usually get the right answer. As seen in “I want to make sure…

In the 10th grade, I moved to Florida. The school was way bigger and in some points, better than the school I just recently graduated from. It seemed like money seemed to be a big issue for smaller schools than bigger schools. I ended up moving back to the smaller school later that year. Even though Jean Anyon’s work is good, I believe its starting to change because of my experience.…

In addition, to a staff recognition program, I created a paraprofessional in training presentation. The goal of the presentation was to train future paraprofessionals in their role and expectations as it relates to school policy. The presentation helped teachers provide less training to paraprofessionals during instructional time. They were better able to focus on teaching and achieving student goals. New paraprofessionals were more confident when stepping into the classroom. I take pleasure in being able to help teachers and paraprofessionals work together to meet the needs of the students.…

As another example, one of my group member as well share her feelings regarding the challenges she is experiencing at her placement. She mentioned that she asked one of the staff members a question regarding the resources they agency uses to help their client, but the staff’s response left her unsatisfied. When she shared this experience, it sounds to me that the question she asked was too generic and not specific, therefore, I did some clarification just to understand specifically what she wants to learn. I was glad to give her a feedback regarding the question she asked because I am doing my placement at an employment agency too, and I am knowledgeable about the question she asked. First, I explain to her that organizations have policies…

Using SmartThink to gain ideas on how to revise my persuasive essay, Rebuilding the Middle Class by Offering Tuition Free Community College, was an enlightening process. I was surprised by how thorough the evaluation was and the amount of revision ideas that were provided. I had asked for help on the structure of my thesis statement and overall organization and concept flow of the essay body. What I received was a two part review, the first section was a written critique that highlighted areas such as where the thesis needed to be stronger and where I needed to provide more explanation, the second section was actual in text annotations within the essay body to show the exact areas to improve or elaboration. The e-tutor provided both positive and constructive criticism to help with directional ideas in the revision process.…

The honors program also required us students to participate in community service and group activities. I did not mention this before but I was a very shy, quiet child which led to me not easily making friends later in life. I don’t think I spoke to anyone during the semester I spent at the university in Texas and probably only a few people the entire time at the community college. The honors program basically forces students to interact with each other and with the community and the group projects require everyone to take initiative and organize projects and events. I only joined the honors program to participate in its honors only study abroad program but gained so much from the experience that changed the course of my life. After organizing…

The social part of school and an education deeply impacts a student. When we think back to our days in elementary school we think about social encounters with other students or teachers. For example, I still remeber to this day how I was left at my school while my class and teacher drove away to the library. For a second grader this was an event that affected my whole day of learning. How we interact with teachers and other students can effect how we learn or effect they way we view school and learning. The social aspect of school may be difficult for a student with disabilities, but it is important for teachers to help make it easier on their students.…
