History. Since the turn of the 20th century immigration has been an issue for the people of this country. The ironic thing is majority of the population has evolved from some type of immigration. Today, thousands of unauthorized immigrants flood the streets of major cities across the United States. The underlying problem is the lack of absorption to the American ways of life and the acceptance of existing laws and rules, which is not new to this country. With the already weak economy and largely growing unemployment rate, congress must make every effort to close its borders to undocumented immigrants. Giving working permits to people who have come to the United
States illegally is preposterous. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants flock to our country for many personal reasons, such as the opportunity to work, to receive care from our already struggling healthcare system, and to receive a better education. Most unauthorized immigrants enter the country and start working under illegal names or take agricultural jobs. By doing so, they take away jobs from citizens for the United
States. These agricultural jobs that they seek pay them off the record, being so it is impossible for anyone to know where the money they earn goes. This illegal activity takes away jobs from American citizens. In the state of New Jersey, the illegal alien population is costing hardworking residents nearly 2 billion dollars which can be contributed to healthcare and education. The topic of education is a conversation piece within every town, namely because 11.7 percent of students in grades kindergarten through 12 derive from illegal immigrant families.
